My relationship with Bioware is kind of a love hate kind of thing. I love their franchisessuch as Neverwinter Nights (NWN 1 AND 2) and Knights of the Old Republic (KOTOR). The issue I have with them is that Bioware has a habit of making certain parts of the game unbearably boring and slow paced. Let's take NWN. The game starts out awesome. Lots of action, lots of roleplaying, and lots of xp. However, I always end up ditching the game about halfway through because it then starts to drag or it becomes so cliched and familiar. KOTOR is the opposite. The games start out slow to the point that you just don't want to continue. If you stick it out, there's alot of great game to be had, but you have to get beyond their ridiculous pacing issues.

Now I have a 360 and I picked up Mass Effect. This has been heralded by so many of my friends as a really great game, but it suffers from the same bullshit Bioware has issues with plus a couple of other nuances. This game, for me at least, has a strong case of the KOTOR issues. I realize that I'm only an hour and a half into the game, but it draaaaaaaaaags. The other issues I have a graphics wise. I still only have a standard def. televison so I'm not sure if that's the issue, but the text is so tiny is nigh unreadable. I've noticed this with alot of games I've been playing so I'm inclined to think that's the issue. There is also the texture popping. This is when you see really drab, blurry, and washed out textures and then all of a sudden the actual textures get mapped to the object.

End Rant.
