Ottawa 3, Buffalo 2 in overtime tonight. Sens win the series 4-1.
It's not as empty a feeling as I thought it would be...certainly not as bad as last year vs. Carolina! Probably because this team we played is a legit competitor, they beat us fair & square (they are the better team right now and that's part of hockey) - that's right no injuries no conspiracies or anything, their city is AWESOME in terms of Class, Support and Hockey Fanatacism (much like here), and they're a Canadian team too, gotta love that aspect... I support the Canadian teams when my Sabres are down and in the dumps. But my Sabres weren't down much at all this year, and that's another reason I'm probably very pleased with this season! President's Trophy Winners - best record in the NHL (regular season) - first time in Franchise History! The last few seasons have been amazing, let's keep this core together, keep the records piling up, and continue writing this great chapter in Sabres history! We're so close. Third time's a charm?
THANK YOU SABRES FOR A GREAT YEAR.
So memorable. The most exciting year ever? I went to so many great games. So happy I got that mini pack. Getting tickets to games this year was pretty much unheard of...my planning ahead paid HUGE dividends. How about the home opener Waaay back in October? Down 3-1 and 4-2 vs. Montreal...a 5-4 shootout win (Afinogenov tied it with less than a minute to go to force OT)...WOW...how about the 4-3 shootout win over Vancouver, my little cousin's first Sabres game ever, another late goal to tie and keep the game going...how about the first game of the playoffs this year, a 4-1 whomping of the Isles (WOW! The atmosphere!), and just when you think it can't be topped - the best Sabres game I've ever been to, and one of the best games/moments in Buffalo sports history.....Sabres down 1-0 in pivotal Game 5, at home (series tied at 2) vs. the Rangers....DRUUURY TIES IT WITH 7.7 SECONDS LEFT. AFINOGENOV WINS IT IN OOOOVERTIME ON THE PP. WOW! WOW! WOW! Unbelievable. This team was a treat to watch this year. We need to resign Drury. Can't wait til next year.
Go Ottawa in the Finals...REPRESENT THE EAST & CANADA!
