Sunday malaise brought internet wanderings, and within them the
Wayback Machine to look at something long passed. The subtle cogs in the machine: links that take you to that same moment in history in other sites - this is more than a television programme repeated for nostalgia - this is reliving the choices, albeit trivial, that once were not made half a decade ago.
But I got so lost in the past and forgot I was there. The internet, the blogospere in particular, is remarkably unchanged - only such clues as the word 'epinions' let you know that its all wrong, that there's no point in emailing the author of an interesting piece, because even if their address is still active, they will rightly flee in horror at having their archives cyber-sifted. And what were you doing there in the first place?
