The perfect husband and son in law -- now a single father of two. The man whose world was turned upside down since the day she claimed her ownership on him through her pregnancy of Moonbin. The man who had done everything to make sure that she lived a good and happy life. The man who sacrificed his love for the sake of their daughter’s life. Nothing but shame written on their faces as they’re facing the man and his parents right now. Unable to speak, afraid that their words would seem inappropriate.
They sat across each other in the living room after the whole ordeal was over. Mr. Han tried to speak in a hitch.
“Where are Moonbin and Min Young, Yunho? Why didn’t you take your children to their mother’s funeral?”
Yunho wasn’t interested to answer his question and kept his silence. So his mother replied in his stead, “I’m sorry Chul Joo-ah. Min Young is upstairs with her nurse and JiHye, she’s still weak and we thought she should stay home as she needs her milk every few hours. And as for Moonbin…” she wasn’t sure that the other party would agree with what she was about to say.
Yunho’s father took over, “Moonbin is in Jaejoong’s care since yesterday and he will be staying until tomorrow or the day after tomorrow when all is settled and the house is back to its normal condition again.”
The Hans stared at them confusedly. “Jaejoong? Why? Didn’t he want to see his mother for the last time?”
“Soon Hee-ah,” the older Jung spoke carefully again, “Moonbin hasn’t had a good relationship with his mother since her bedrest time until she gave birth to Min Young. She was harsh with him, you saw it; you were here after all. Binnie told Jaejoong that he thought he’s a bad boy that his parents wouldn’t play with him and his mother being angry at him all the time.” The Hans hung their heads in shame.
“Now all of a sudden his mother died without even saying goodbye to him or seeing him for the last time. Instead, she was with Min Young when the tragedy struck. He felt even worse, that his mother didn’t love him enough and only liked his little sister so she left him. It’s really hard to explain the truth to a toddler but he seemed at ease when he was with Jaejoong. It was also Jaejoong who made him pour his young heart out and informed us about how he felt.”
And Yunho raised his eyes to meet his parents in law’s gaze, “People who came to the funeral would pity him and told him how they were sorry that he had no mother now; and all this while he wasn’t even sure if he was loved by Soon Mi… and by me, “ tears started rolling from his eyes, “I was too busy to spend a little time with him that my sister and her husband always had to take an extra time out of their newlyweds life to take care of him.” He sobbed.
“Chul Joo-ah, Sun Hee-ah, please understand. We didn’t want him to see his mother in a casket and started blaming himself again; he’s too young to bear such a burden. We will tell him the truth one day when he starts to understand. But right now, it’s better for him not to stay here until we all finish with the funeral, paper arrangement and until all our relatives has left. Then we will pick him up to start living with his father and little sister.”
The Hans’ faces were filled with remorse as they watched Yunho sobbing like a child in his mother’s arms.
“We understand, thank you. I believe that you are all doing your best for him… and you have done your best for our daughter too. We don’t know what kind of words is appropriate to say, but we can’t thank you enough for everything you have done for Soon Mi. We apologize that your family had to go through all of this because of our daughter. Yunho-ah, please accept our apology.” Both elders bowed deeply as they cried over the loss of their child and the misfortune of their son in law and grandchildren.
“Forgive our selfish family once again… but please let us come to see Moonbin and Min Young when we want to? After all, the children are all we have left of our daughter.” Han Chul Joo begged of the Jungs.
Yunho’s father smiled at them reassuringly, “There’s nothing to forgive about, she was our daughter in law and the mother of our Grandchildren. We have done our best but it was her decision to end her life. You should forgive yourself too, you have been good parents for her. And you’re always welcome to see your Grandchildren, we have to reason not to let you. We are good friends before in laws.”
The Hans didn’t stop crying and bowing while Yunho did the same.

JiHye watched everything from the second floor, right in front of Min Young’s room, praying to God that things will get better for the little angel too. She was thankful that Jaejoong didn’t mind to take Moonbin in yesterday as she and Changmin should be around to help their parents with the arrangement.
Yunho was still too shocked with her sudden death (and the way she chose to end her life) and her husband should cover her father in greeting their business colleagues who came to pay their respect. Even though there’s a nurse who’s staying with Min Young, she wanted to be sure that her niece had enough care with all the commotions around the house; Kibum already had his hands full with the foods, drinks and making sure that the guests were all comfortable until they have to leave.
She really wished that Yoochun didn’t mind to have Moonbin around. He was at Jaejoong’s when they dropped him off yesterday. More than that, she hoped that her Oppa can talk to Moonbin once again to make him understand that he’s not being left out.
It’s not going to be easy for the whole family once the funeral and everything is over, but they’ll have to decide the living arrangement once again. She and Changmin might have to move back into the house to help watching over the children while her brother has to start a new life. He has to start working again to provide for his children though she was sure that their father wouldn’t mind to do that for him. She just wants him to have a breather after dedicating his life for Soon Mi for a few years. And maybe… to start looking for real love?
She sighed… ‘If only Jaejoong Oppa is still single’… but then she shook her head. No, it’s not fair for him, he has Yoochun Oppa now, they should be happy together. She will make it her objective to change Yunho back into the man he used to be. Even if he doesn’t like it, isn’t it what a sister should do? To knock some sense into her brother’s mind and encourage him to start anew.

Jaejoong was watching a record of his boys’ latest appearance in a talk-show with his head on Yoochun’s lap. They were sitting comfortably on the couch; Moonbin was napping in his room after a tiring morning of going swimming in the complex’ club with Yoochun. Yeah, with Yoochun, hard to believe? And Jaejoong always thought that the man dislike his deep involvement with the Jungs. He even blurted it out one time though Jaejoong pretended that he didn’t hear.
Yoochun broke the silence between them and pointed at the screen, “Jae, Lee Joon should stop being such a big mouth on a talk show or one day he will say something he shouldn’t say and put everyone on a hardwork for his lousy mouth.”
Jaejoong chuckled, “That’s new to hear from you. Since you always told me ‘Jae, please be patient, they’re only teenagers’.”
“Yeah, I know, and I’m sorry. But that’s before he told Jae Hoon that we made him starving while practicing his dance on the second album! It was a punishment for him for not coming on time and making the trainer angry with his lame joke! He happened to miss that bit of information, don’t you think?” he sounded annoyed.
The other man cupped his face from below, still sleeping on his lap… “Well, now you know it’s easy to lose my temper around him. Sorry isn’t enough to make it up for it.” He said coyly.
Yoochun wondered what’s on his mind as he inched his face closer to the other; close enough that he could see the pores on the Jaejoong’s face. He gave him a peck and whispered, “Then what will be enough?”
Jaejoong could feel Yoochun’s breath on his lips, “This should suffice for a down payment,” and he closed the gap between their lips, kissing him softly.
The kiss wasn’t intended to be intense, but he felt the urge for some intimacy. He unconsciously sitting up and putting his hands around Yoochun’s neck. They stopped when they felt a need to breath. And just as Jaejoong about to continue the kiss Yoochun already held his arms and pulled off a bit.
“Whoa, wait a minute mister! Not I that I mind, but… what’s on your mind?” he asked him in earnest.
Jaejoong looked flustered, “What do you mean what’s on my mind? This is what’s on my mind,” he started to try to kiss him again but Yoochun kept a strong hold on him.
“Kim Jaejoong, don’t give me bullshit. I’d really love to kiss you, I’d been waiting to since this morning but you think I don’t know you well enough to know that you’d never initiate this with Moonbin in the house unless you forgot that he’s around. Or you must’ve had something on your mind and you need a distraction so badly.”
Jaejoong felt offended and got up, “Fine, you should’ve told me if you don’t want to.” He started to leave but Yoochun held his wrist and stopped him.
“Jaejoong, please. Don’t keep everything for yourself, I want you to start depending on me. Am I that undependable that you can’t even tell me what’s bothering your mind?” Yoochun asked him. He knew that Jaejoong is not one to initiate intimacy. The more he felt bothered, the more the feel the need touch him like he needs an anchor to put him in place. The more he felt unsure of himself, the more he would feel the urge for physical touch. It had been that way since Yunho (from bits and pieces he heard from the man himself, JiHye and Yunho - when they were still together. He wasn’t being a CEO without listening to his artist’s problem once in a while, mind you), still is but maybe for slightly different reasons.
The man in question still didn’t make a move so Yoochun let go of his hold on him. But he couldn’t help not to ask anyway, “Do you want to be at the funeral? You’re worried about him?” They both knew very well whom Yoochun was talking about.
He saw the other’s shoulder tensed, he knew he hit the nail.
“Why didn’t you tell me? Was it because of Moonbin? I could watch him here you know, it’s not like he doesn’t like me. We could do something else that would keep us occupied if you really need to be there.”
Jaejoong didn’t move from his spot, still standing without even replying to any of his lover’s question.
So Yoochun just stood up, “And maybe it’s also time for me to leave; seeing that you have no intention to share anything else but your bed with me. Tell Moonbin that I’ll still buy him the water pistol next time we meet. If, we’re going to meet. Don’t forget that you should wake him up soon if you don’t want an energizer bunny jumping around the house on your bed time. Take care.”
He turned and started to leave when he felt Jaejoong held his waist from behind.
“Don’t! I’m sorry! Don’t leave…” he sounded like a kid.
Though it sounded harsh, he asked him anyway, “Tell me why I shouldn’t?”
“I’m sorry, I really am. I need you here. I- I’ll try to let you know what’s bothering me… so will you stay?”
Yoochun turned around while Jaejoong still held his wait. His eyes glistened with un-fallen tears as he cupped his cheeks on his hands, “I never intended to leave in the first place. But it hurts me when you keep hurting yourself like this and won’t tell me what’s on your mind. I feel useless. Don’t you trust me?” He kissed him again, this time more slowly and he felt that Jaejoong reciprocate.
Yoochun knew that whatever he was about to hear might hurt him too. But it’s necessary if he wants to continue with this relationship. They have to move somewhere and Jaejoong has to start opening up to him.
Otherwise they’re not going anywhere and might as well quit before he expects more from him.
He looked into Jaejoong’s eyes, “Promise you’ll tell me in all honesty?”
Jaejoong nodded and put his head on his chest. Yoochun held him closer, “Let’s talk then.”
* * * * *
This time they sat on the couch side by side. Jaejoong put his head on Yoochun’s left shoulder and held his arm on his, playing with his fingers.
“You were right, I was worried about Yunho. I’m sorry for not saying anything to you.”
“Well, it’s natural for you to worry about him. Mind to tell me what made you feel so concern?”
“He’s… Yunho always had a one track mind. When’s he’s focused on something, he’d walk in that direction without looking to his left or right. Since- since we separated, he’d always put his mind on Soon Mi, everything about Soon Mi. Even after Moon Bin was born, you saw for yourself that it’s hard for him to divide his attention she needed him. He tried hard to care for Binnie as a good father, but I could tell that he didn’t do a very good job about it.”
“And now… this- this happened with her. Suddenly he lost the centre of his attention for the past 3.5 years. Of course there are Moon Bin and Min Young who still needs his utmost attention but I’m afraid that he’ll break down if no one makes him realize that he doesn’t lose his focus, he just needs to turn it to his children. They need him more now that their mother is not around anymore.”
“Mmmmh, I see. But I don’t see what contribution you can give him by being there today.”
Jaejoong sighed and closed his eyes. “I’m not so sure myself, I mean- we’re not together anymore or anything. I just feel like he needs someone outside the family to hold him in place and ensure him that things will be fine once again, he just have to work it out. Just- I’m more worried about Moonbin.”
“Binnie? Why him? What’s he gotta do with his father?”
“You realize that Min Young needs a special attention, don’t you? Once Yunho turn his eyes on her, he will- I don’t want to say forget, but might be distracted with Min Young all the time. And… he might neglect Moonbin again. He needs to understand that he has 2 children who need his attention, not one. A healthy and cheerful boy doesn’t always show what he actually feels inside. If it helps, I’d like him to pay more attention to Binnie. Min Young has his parents & a nurse to care for; there will be time when she needs him too of course, but for now… if just a little, he should mend his relationship with his son a bit more.”
They didn’t say a word for a few moments, then Yoochun awkwardly asked him, “Do you still… love him?”
Jaejoong still closed his eyes when he replied to him, “Maybe I do.” Then he opened them and looked at Yoochun, “But not the way you love me. Not the way I love you now, if you still doubt it.”
Jaejoong knew that he hadn’t been fair to Yoochun. He loves him, but he had nothing more to offer but what he is right now.
He straightened his back as he sat facing his lover. “Park Yoochun, I’m sure you know that’s it’s not going to be easy to love me. Even I’m not so sure if I could love you the way you wanted me to or the way I wanted to. But I can promise you that I’ll try to make this- well, whatever we have right now- working. Will you believe me?”
“Kim Jaejoong, I want to make it work between us so yeah, I don’t have a choice do I?” They smiled at each other.
“Since I have promised you, will you also promise me something?”
“Hm? Is there anything that I need to you promise you?”
“I don’t mind having Moonbin around, after our swimming session this morning I think I could try to love him too since you both are so attached to each other. But please not on every off day that you have? I still need my fix on my hardworking manager, “ and he kissed him with passion, forgetting (yet again) the presence of a child in a room a few meters away.
Jaejoong told him in between kisses, “I… *kiss* promise *kiss* you *kiss* Mr. CEO *kiss*”
Yoochun started to pull his man’s shirt and caressed him at the small of his back, he’s intoxicated by this man named Kim Jaejoong, and he doesn’t care if it’s going to be a hard work or it will hurt him in the end. He can’t let him go… And he has to prove him now… he’s going to-
A child’s voice was calling from behind them, “Jejussi, Binnie’s hungry…”
Both men jumped from the couch and turned their attention to the little guy in front of them.
“Oh Bi- Binnie, you woke up! Since when were you standing there?” he stuttered and looked overwhelmed in his swollen lips, disheveled hair and messy shirt.
The boy still looked half asleep, his eyes squinted trying to open wide. “Just now… Binnie is very hungry. Oh, Chun Ahjussi, have you bought my water pistol?” he moved his attention to Yoochun now.
Jaejoong let out a relieved breath while Yoochun now took the boy to lay down with him on the couch. “Not yet baby, I haven’t gone anywhere when you were asleep. Jejussi needed my help so I was held hostage in the house.” He winked at his lover.
Jaejoong laughed, “Well, I guess I have to start cooking now or you’ll be starving shortly.”
“Hey,” Yoochun called him as he walked to the kitchen, “What do you say for dinner at the mall? Might as well buy Binnie his waster pistol for our future swimming lesson.”
Binnie looked excited, “Really? We’re going out now? Can we Jejussi?”
Jaejoong grinned at him, “Sure, why not. Let’s freshen up a little then we’re off, OK?”
Moonbin jumped up and down as he’s running to his room to wash his face and get changed.
Yoochun chuckled at him, “You look like you’re ready to go out too.”
Jaejoong held him from behind the couch, “I love you. Let’s make sure that we tire out the Bunny at the arcade,”
“Hm?” Yoochun shot him a questioning glance and Jaejoong whispered on his ear.
“Once the Bunny is sleeping, I’ll make sure to thank you properly tonight.” He kissed is right cheek and left to help Binnie.
Jaejoong could hear Yoochun’s booming laugh as he entered Binnie’s room. This is not bad at all. If he’s going to learn to love that man completely, he should try his best. And he could start tonight.
