More metatude- this is an anomolous fandom
I feel like I've got a lot of essay-type expounding, the likes of which I haven't done since college. In the meantime, here's some more meta:
- Race and fandom, particularly pertaining to Transformers: I posted a query regarding race and fandom in fanthropology way back in September (posted here for archive reasons). Would like to say that my views have changed slightly since then. I have indeed seen at least a couple Hispanic OC's in Transformers fic. I quite promptly wanted to spork my eyes away.
- Calger's fanthropology study: We were curious as to what the make-up of the movie fandom was in terms of gender and nationality. What we learned: angry trannies demand equal representation.
- Why we slash: I still don't know. Very generic queries. Interesting ones, granted, but no answer is reached.
