Wouldn't you like to know

Seven months of downtime. New record. I am an update saint :) But this new discovery, thefacebook.com, has reintroduced me to the world of whoring my deepest thoughts, expressions, beliefs, wisdoms out on the internet, brilliant invention of the modern world.

It's pouring outside. I'm home, of course, it being winter break and all. It's been raining fairly consistently for the last three hours or so, and off and on for the entirety of the afternoon. Mom, Dad and I took a walk earlier and got caught in a downpour halfway down Orange-Olive (Davis equivalent: Anderson, between 8th and Covell). It was a lost cause, this novel idea of staying dry. ...and the wind just picked up. Yeah, it seriously just blew enough rain under our patio cover to soak the slider. Mmmm tasty. I really hope tortuga is ok. One layer of plywood suddenly doesn't sound so waterproof.

Updated list of things to be obsessed with for the next 15 minutes:
Semi-pro/college ballet
Hawaii
Surfing

We saw a special the other night (replayed the next morning) on PBS about a college production of The Nutcracker somewhere in the midwest (I think). Of course, if it's done well on PBS then it automatically goes on the list, but this was a really good doc. V. optimistic, humorous, none of that pouty "this is why my life is terrible and I should get a medal" stuff. I have decided that female dancers (and male surfers, but that's later) have the greatest bodies on the planet. I would kill to have a dancer's body. And ballet is such an incredible art form. Of course, my original true love where any form of entertainment is concerned is production. And this documentary was great there, too. Lots of behind the scenes. Awesome bit of running the trapdoor for the Rat King. Of course, mid-second showing of the special my dad mentions that he was going to buy tickets for us to go see it at UCLA, but figured there wouldn't be enough interest from us to justify spending the money. I almost died. A terrible death, with much screaming involved. We'll see. He said maybe it could still be done, but time passes quickly in this strange universe of winter break. He and Mom are going to see David Sedaris in April, maybe I can use the lack of Nutcracker tickets as a lead in for my plea to be included.

Hawaii, I think, needs to be taken off the 15 minute list and moved to the permanent list. And let's modify it to "entire Pacific Ocean." Ah, yes, my favorite cop out: just include everything. I watched Lilo and Stitch AND Finding Nemo the other day, so that just tossed some napalm into the cinders of this summer. Some sort of tropic paradise is rapidly climbing the "places to travel to" list. Of course, much of this is also riding the coattails of the 3rd thing on that list:

Tyler got "Endless Summer" and "Step Into Liquid" for Christmas. ES is good, v. classic, but SiL is incredible! It's by Dana Brown (son of Bruce Brown, who, tada!, made ES). Of course, it's 2003 copyright makes it much more relate-able than ES's 195something copyright, so the bias swings for all men, but still... I have officially declared the correct outlook on life to be a gelatinous hybrid of surfing and cowboy-ing. There is just something in the mindset that speaks to me. An unstoppable, laid back love of the world.

A few closing comments: read A Series of Unfortunate Events by Lemony Snicket! oh and Jane Austen's Persuasion, but it's Austen, so that's kind of a given.
"Gilmore Girls" = guaranteed happy
