An army of armed robots would easily destroy an army of zombies. Zombies would lack the organization or strength to damage a combat and/or heavy work oriented robot. In fact, robots would probably be the best weapon against a zombie invasion due to the fact that 1)Unless there were humans inside, there would be no real motivation to attack a robot. Zombies may attack at first if they can concieve the potential of a human operator inside, however this can easily be resolved by arming unmanned (or even manned mecha as to prevent infeciton of the pilot) robots with explosive devices in case the zombies render the robot non-functional through violent or swarming means.
2)The zombie's main weapon is that of infection. The zombies would not be able to spread and infect the defeated robots, thus limiting their major tactics of infecting and overwhelming with numbers.
In the end, a robot offensive against mankind would prove most lethal. Granted, even with a situation like "Dawn of the Dead" where most of the civilian world was infected; any modern tank can easily go through a crowd of zombies. Anti-personnel weapons such as mines, flamethrowers and saturation bombing would also provide adequate means to prevent infection. The greatest threat from zombies is the intial infection and how quickly it can spread to unaware and ill-equipped populations. However, a modern military force would be able to easily contain even a large infestation.
A war against robots on the other hand will be a technology race. Either we can somehow find a weakness with them via computer virus or EMP based weaponry, or they evolve past our technology and counter these means. However, we may also be able to reason with sentient robots and resolve things peacefully or even rally with them against their aggressive brethren.
