HISTORY;
When Genevieve Foster was on holiday with her family and future husband, Henry, in Europe, she had a very bright life. She was young and beautiful, only nineteen in 1948. After a lovely night in Seville with Henry, she retired to her bedroom to find him in her bed, waiting. It was not her first time, but it was her only time with Henry. Unfortunately it was not him, but instead a Metamorphmagus named Juan Pedro Timadorez who had tracked her from the date.
When Henry renounced her, so did her family. At four months pregnant, Genevieve had to fend for herself. She was resourceful though, and managed to steal a large sum of gold before her family told the Gringotts goblins to keep her out. She then went back to Spain, searching for a man whose face she didn't even know. When Reynard came, it soon became a somewhat easier task - the man was more than likely a Metamorphmagus who had passed on his gift to her son. It took three years, but she tracked a known family of Metamorphmagi called Timadorez to their hometown of Grenada. It was there that Juan Pedro saw her prowling and approached her.
Genevieve had searched for Juan Pedro, not in the hopes of making him be a father, but to take his money. It was a profound disappointment to find that he and his family were nothing more than tramps, all using their magic to hide in the world. She left Spain and returned to England, moving into a cheap flat near Diagon Alley.
Meanwhile, Reynard was growing into the mirror reflection of his father, but his mind was all his mother's. Genevieve became a magical art dealer, her highbred background finally coming in useful. Reynard grew up in comfort after Genevieve saved up enough to afford better living arrangements. But he was a solitary child, loitering around Diagon Alley, watching people as they went about their business. And Genevieve made him swear to never use his gifts anywhere, she was strict on that rule and Reynard stopped using it almost altogether. He didn't like to see his mother's face like that.
At eleven, Reynard thought he was happy to go to Hogwarts, but found himself soon bored. His mother had never talked to him or treated him like a child, and suddenly all the adults were. He became very introverted, preferring to watch the people rather than be with them. They were all such messes.
In the summer when Reynard was fourteen, Juan Pedro walked into their lives. It was a long night, with Reynard watching on the couch as the two adults ripped each other apart. Genevieve was purposefully open and ruthless in her dealings with Juan Pedro in front of Reynard, and it was on that night that Reynard finally learnt how he was conceived.
The summer of Juan Pedro changed Reynard forever. He hated his father for everything, blamed him for everything wrong in his life. He returned a very different boy for his fifth year. Before he had been an uninvolved voyeur, watching as people lived in their dramas. Now he wanted to create them. Hogwarts had no idea Reynard was a Metamorphmagus, and he used it to his advantage. He started stirring up problems for people: He liked to become Filch and hand out detentions, he became the girlfriend of a boy he hated and flirted with other boys in front of him, and even once impersonated Dumbledore at Hogsmeade. Having watched people for so long, he had become a master manipulator and impersonator.
Reynard managed to put less than no effort into his OWLs and NEWTs, and left Hogwarts with no job prospects. He didn't care. And when his mother confronted him, delivering an ultimatum of career or estrangement, he reminded her of his power and walked away. Their pride has kept them apart ever since. Genevieve would accept him back, but only if he came to her, which he has been unwilling to do. He drifted in the world, taking money occasionally from Genevieve's intentionally unsealed vault, and using his power for games. He learnt to pickpocket, to steal, and to do a few useful charms to keep Muggles from asking questions when he took over their flats. There were a few years spent in Grenada, then a few in Marseilles, but they were nothing next to London and its variety of people.
When he was thirty-one, independent Genevieve finally married, and his stepfather closed the vault. Reynard could no longer hide after all his money ran out, and so he moved into the open. He did not want to tell the Ministry of his power, that would ruin his fun, so instead he joined the Death Eaters in early 1981. For him, it simply meant he could use his powers without ramifications. He has no real loyalty to Voldemort, Reynard just wants to be able to fuck around without any problems.
PERSONALITY;
Reynard feels no guilt for what he does, in fact, he does most of it with a shit-eating grin (if only on the inside) and a cigar. He sees himself removed from it - his actions are his own, and people react and cause their own problems with it. He is not specifically cruel, but more interested in what every personality will do - what are their individual strengths, weaknesses, loves, hates, their buttons, their soft spots...People are like a scientific experiment for him. The only soft spot he still has is his mother, who despite his strong words to her at eighteen, he loves and watches over. He continued to take her money partially because he needed it, but also give them a connection.
But this leaves him with no friends, and Reynard is fine with that. Nobody surprises him or holds his interests, he doesn't care at all. Once a person has answered his favorite question of "Why?", he is bored. The other Death Eaters are not particularly warm to him, and that is fine - most of them bore him anyway. Everyone knows why he is there and what he is doing, and so long as his work is done, he is fine. He has willing traded loyalty for protection, and this has not raised any problems yet.
MENTAL;
Intelligence is a strong suit on both sides of Reynard's family, and Genevieve nurtured that. She never spoke to him as a condescending adult, never gave him an answer that was sugar-coated. She wanted him to learn to live standing straight and tall, as she had had to at age 19. Genevieve also taught him French and the Spanish she learnt while searching for Juan Pedro, to give him more tools for life. All tolled, this has turned Reynard into a complete mental snob.
Power is not something Reynard craves, he doesn't want control, especially given Juan Pedro's history. He refuses to ever be like his father in that respect. Given that he does not want to move people like their on his mental chessboard, it is very easy for Reynard to get through the world. He is smart, he can be charming, and he likes to take on different personalities constantly. This means so long as everyone in his life is temporary, he can get away with whatever he wants.
Despite this changing of masks and people, Reynard is stable, if incredibly pessimistic. He grew out of his angst after Hogwarts and simply chose to live on the outskirts because he wanted to. However, if people try to play him like he's another person in their stupid games, Reynard becomes quickly annoyed and can lose his temper. He doesn't lack empathy entirely, he just uses it very, very sparingly.
PHYSICAL;
If it weren't for being a Metamorphmagus, Reynard would not usually look as strong as he does. But he prefers for people to think he can take them in a physical fight, as he is not a very great wizard. He usually keeps his frame a little larger than it should be so that he gives this impression. His pain tolerance has not really been tested. He has been in bar fights (Muggle and magical) with some damage, but nothing has pushed him too hard yet.
MAGICAL;
Reynard purposefully failed all his Newts. He is not a strong wizard, he has no subtlety, instead he relies on being a Metamorphmagus to get by.
POLITICAL;
After meeting Juan Pedro, Reynard became more of a Slytherin than a Ravenclaw. He has no loyalty except to himself and, although from afar, his mother. But he is willing to work for and serve Lord Voldemort, because if he were on the other side, he could not have as much fun.
In their own words, how would your character describe themselves?:
Yo soy el que soy.
But you, that's who I want to know.
Oh, don't be shy. Everyone loves to talk about themselves. Who are you? How old were you when you first doubted yourself? Are you the same person to your mother as you are to your father? Are you faithful to your spouse? Do you feel guilty? Why?

*The British Museum is empty.
Reynard wanders around, quickly becoming more bored. How is that even possible - it is raining out. There should be throngs of people, or at least a few tourists.
The museum is one of his favorite places in London to watch people, and today it is not delivering. He goes down to the Rosetta Stone exhibit, it always has a few people huddled around it, taking photos.
At the door, Reynard stops to listen. There are three American Muggles - two women and one man - gathered around it, talking. The man says he is bored and what is the point of taking all these pictures of a piece of rock. The women sound young as they tell him off, one of them is clearly more intimate with him as she teases, "But honey, it's Egyptian rock."
The man says whatever and tells them he'll meet them at the centre hall.
Reynard watches him pass and takes on his face. This is just too easy.*
Back.
*The accent won't be perfect, he thinks as he steps into the hall, but they won't notice.
The women look confused, then the one woman looks happy.
"Couldn't find it?" she asks, giggling.
Reynard shakes his head, coming closer to study her face, especially her eyes. She's confident with this man - what reason has he given her for that?*
Why are you cheating on me?
