Luke had made it back to Fandom Tuesday evening, feeling more exhausted than he thought was humanly possible. It had been a rough two weeks between Panem and stuff going on in his own universe. Percy...wasn't going to admit that he'd been listening for Luke but he had. And when he recognized Luke's footfalls, he couldn't even stop himself from crossing the hall after giving the other boy had been in there for awhile.

"You're back." He made his voice mild even if his eyes were looking him over for injuries.

Luke wasn't surprised to hear Percy's voice behind him. Some part of him realized that something about that wasn't right, but he ignored it.

"I'm back," he said, tossing his phone aside and turning to face Percy. "I'm surprised you noticed I was gone."

"If I went off to do who knows what for awhile, would you notice if I was gone?" he asked challengingly.

"Well." Yeah, okay, Luke couldn't deny that. "I may have noticed in passing."

He wasn't even trying to be a good liar with that one.

"So, shut up about that," he said, stepping over the threshold of Luke's room and crossing his arms. "Why are you unpacking now? Shouldn't you be asleep?"

Or kissing Kronos' ass?

"Sleep? And miss this conversation? Never," Luke said, rolling his eyes. "I'm planning to do it after I unpack, if that's all right with you."

"You know what, I came to see if you were okay," Percy snapped heatedly. "Go screw yourself, Luke. Take a picture so Kronos can enjoy it too. I won't check again."

He didn't even stop himself from kicking Luke's door as he turned to try and get out of there. Obviously caring had been a mistake on his part.

Luke suddenly felt like an ass. He didn't know why, since he thought it was perfectly acceptable to be on the defensive, but he still felt like a jerk then. "Percy, wait."

"What?" he asked, glaring at him from over his shoulder. "Gonna show your ass again? Maybe laugh at me for even caring the tiniest bit when I shouldn't? Run me through with a sword? Bite me."

"I don't want to do any of that," Luke said, feeling more like a jerk by the second. All he wanted for weeks was for Percy to give him that sort of attention and it figured Luke wouldn't even recognize it when it happened. "Look, I'm sorry. Don't go."

He tried to close the distance between himself and Percy but didn't try to reach out for him.

"I didn't come over here to fight with you," Percy said, turning back around and pulling himself up to as tall as he could be. "I came to see if you were all right but hey, maybe Nico got here before I did and you don't need me. Just say the word."

"Nico hasn't been here," Luke said, unsurprised by that. "Nobody has, I've just been texting Kate."

He didn't want to outright say that he wanted Percy around, but that was what he was getting at.

Percy idly wondered where Nico was considering he'd given the impression that he was Luke's right hand man but he didn't say anything about that. Instead, he forced some of the tension out of his shoulders.

"Did you come back hurt?" he asked, trying not to sound as sharp as he had before.

"Some cuts and bruises," Luke said, rubbing his fingers lightly against the one he got along his jaw when the first bombs went off. "I got off lucky. Katniss was pretty much set on fire. She'll be all right though."

"So, no healing needed?" Percy asked, keeping his eyes on Luke's when he asked. He didn't need to be caught looking him over. "You look all in one piece."

"I wouldn't say no if you wanted to do it," Luke said. He wasn't about to be walking around in pain if he didn't have to be. "I just didn't think you'd want to."
