Democracy In Action. Many say they are proud to be American and I appalude those people that say it and also back in up with decent points. We have the battle of NYC going on right now protesting the GOP convention and good god it's a great sight. Now what I really hate is people that think that voting for Kerry is a vote for democracy and how a vote for Nader is a vote down the tube... A CONTROLLED TWO PARTY SYSTEM IS NOT DEMOCRACY!!!!! I find it extremely sad that people still don't get this and that every year we are forced to pick between the lesser of two evils. I'm not saying that I support Nader either as he has latley abandoned many of his enviromental policies and taken contributions from GOP supporters. The battle of LA in 96 in which thousands packed the streets in Los Angles during the democratic national convention knowing that our democracy has been hijacked was a true sight and I'm dissapointed that it wasn't done in this years DNC to the same extent! Whats worse is that we who believe that true democracy should be used are called radical or commies or just plain lawless. But if namecalling is what I must endure then so be it to get my point out. If it's any wonder why almost half of the country doesn't vote it is because of this and that the vote of the people isn't as important as the vote of the elite (electorial college) PLease tell me how it is that in some states a member can vote their opinion and have it count beyond the opinion of the thousands of people they are representing. How is it that we can dictate to the world what democracy is when we don't even have the concept down here? DEMOCRACY IS OF THE PEOPLE AND YET MILLIONS HAVE NILL THE VOICE OF A SELECT FEW! The U.N. should be monitoring our elections and should the same travisty that happended in the last election year repeat itself, well then our example of refusing to recognize a countries government should be used in the same manner true?
The hypocracy of the elite gets me everytime and it's got so many of us by the balls... or ovaries if the case may be.
