Aly's Office - All Day Saturday

Oct 02, 2010 09:27

Her two worlds had crashed together last night when an over-excited Lianna had shown up at her apartment thrilled to be spending the weekend with her mom. Aly was still bemused about it, but in a relaxed, comfortable way that she had never expected. Her daughter in Fandom had always seemed an impossibility, but here she was, picking the locks Aly ( Read more... )

After having breakfast with Percy, Poseidon, still dressed in the Bermuda shorts, Hawaiian shirt and fisherman's hat, had excused himself to meet his teachers. For most of Percy's life, that had his mother's job so Poseidon was taking his chance when he could.

Percy had rolled his eyes and told him that wasn't necessary but Poseidon had insisted and he was now standing in the doorway of this office, smiling warmly.

Aly looked up and just barely managed not to wince at the overwhelming brightness of godhood that surrounded the man. Hm, wonder whose 'parent' this one could be - only three choices really. She stood up, smiling with a bit of amusement as she beckoned him in. "Welcome. I'm Aly."

He probably knew that already, being a god and all, but hell if she was going to kneel to a god wandering around in human form.

"One of my son's professors," he said as he stepped inside and glanced around. "I was afraid I'd gotten lost and was going to have to ask directions. Wouldn't have have been embarrassing?"

She snorted. "I'm just impressed you're walking where you need to go," she said dryly.

Poseidon titled his head the tiniest bit and the lures on his hat clinked quietly. "I'm not sure what you mean, ma'am."

He was totally more polite than his brother.

Aly raised an eyebrow then shook her head. If he wanted to play it that way, she could let him for now. But the politeness clued her into who she thought he was. "You're Percy father then?" she checked. That seemed to make sense. "He's been quite an asset in my class."

Poseidon merely smiled, curious about this professor more than he had been before. "An asset? How so? He's had trouble in previous schools."

She leaned back, sitting on the edge of her desk as she gestured for the god to take a seat if he wished. There was a familiar feel here that she hadn't figured out yet. "So I've heard," Aly said, smiling a little. "It happens a lot here. Fandom's much less interested in making the kids sit forever and pass tests just because. In my world - and the world of most of the students - you pass if you stay alive. Percy has that part in space. I've asked him to be one of my assistants in my class."

"Mmm." Poseidon did take the offered seat and pushed his hat back a touch. "He's had a somewhat difficult time lately. I doubt he's shared that because he's not really supposed to but I don't think he'll mind if I share some."

Poseidon was a god so he really could do what he wanted. He just chose to use his powers for good. And he wasn't a jerk like Hades. Well, he wasn't a jerk all the time.

All gods were jerk. It went with the unlimited cosmic powers.

"There's obviously some tension between him and his, ah, family at times, but any context you would give would be appreciated."

"His family?" Poseidon knew that both Luke and Nico were here but Percy had glossed over details for the most part. "What sort of tension?"

She considered him and which details she could address without feeling as though she was betraying the boys. "Luke, Nico, and Percy are all in my class. I doubt it's much more than the normal interactions of boys their age, but I'm under the impression there's some time differences which hardly makes it easier. It's difficult to stop yourself from being mad at someone for something he hasn't done in his timeline yet."

"Time differences," Poseidon repeated and then nodded. "This island, it's hard to see. Oftentimes, I'm able to watch Percy wherever he goes but he's concealed from view here. It's disconcerting."

There was a smile twitching on her lips and mischief in her eyes as Aly replied, "Yes, I'd think that'd be strange for you."

"That's an interesting power you have," Poseidon said, dropping any pretense of pretending.

Aly shrugged. "It's come in useful for me. Seeing clearly rarely leads you wrong. Are you here purely incognito?"
