Nawat had been on the island for almost a day and a half, and while they'd spent the entire time together, they hadn't talked about much beyond the island, the flockings of crows, and small bits of home - the men and women they'd both served with, Dove, the implications of the lack of rebellion in the past few years.
It was nice just to be in his company, sometimes moving, sometimes not, but always having that innate understanding that comes from knowing someone very, very well. It was almost too bad that eventually they'd have to talk. If only because Aly knew that if she let this amazing and odd opportunity go by without apologising to him, she'd regret it for the rest of her life.
