Mustang's House - Central, Amestris - Thursday Evening

It'd been a long day of meetings and political arguments and Roy's head had been aching since somewhere before lunch. Sadly enough, it hadn't been a valid enough reason to cancel the meetings. You didn't cancel on the National Assembly after all. Well, he could have but he was a bit too interested in the decisions that were to be made today not to show up. Not even when there was a pretty blonde spy waiting for him at home.

The only thing missing when he opened the door was a heap of tumbling kittens running out to meet him. It crossed his mind that maybe he was too eager to accept Aly's suggestion because he liked finding his house not empty. "Aly?"

"In the study," she called, leaning back in her chair again. "Done for the day?"

"Yes, and if I'm not I don't want to hear about it," he called up. He hung his trench coat on the hanger and moved up the stairs, two steps at a time.

He raised an eyebrow as he entered the study, noticing the pile of letters. "Looks like you're not done yet."

Aly smiled, reaching a hand out for him. "You could convince me."

"I don't know," he mused as he took her hand and he stepped closer, leaning down to drop a kiss to her forehead. "I've been letting you slack off."

"Mmm," she squeezed his hand lightly. "I've been lazy, I know. Maybe you should give me another hour or two to make up for it."

"But then I'll be bored," he complained, rubbing his thumb over the back of her hand.

"You have a room full of books," Aly pointed out, looking up for a real kiss.

"You're distracting me from the books," he accused as he was already leaning down for that real kiss, drawing it out to prove how much she was distracting him.

Her hand slipped up around his neck, tugging him down closer as she kissed him back. "Good."

He grinned against her lips, but he didn't kiss her again for now. "I thought you had to work?"

"I worked all day," Aly pointed out. She grinned up at him. "And there's tomorrow."

He curled his fingers around her neck, rubbing gentle circles. "Another day filled with boring meetings."

That felt wonderful after bending over the desk all day, and Aly sighed in pleasure as he rubbed at the tight muscles. "All part of the job."

He nodded and he met her eyes as he realised how tense she was. "And that only after one day's work," he murmured. "What do you do without me around to loosen you up?"

"I have an ocean," she murmured, reaching up to touch his fingers. And she wasn't stressing over not having touched her work for a bunch of days.
