I always feel like, somebody's watching me [Kate]

[Dated October 12th]

Trixa's Mama had told her a lot of things over the thousands of years she'd been alive. One of which was pick your battles and second to that, pick your battlegrounds. Tonight, Trixa was doing both. By now, she knew just about the whole story - Kate got bored and angry, Kate went on a little thieving jaunt. Trixa could respect that, hell, it took all of her years of control not to do something similar, but she'd made two mistakes Trixa would never make. First, her victims had been innocent, second, one of them had been Trixa.

Oddly enough, as time passed, she realized she was angrier about the former rather than the latter. Which wasn't to say she didn't feel some personal slight, hell no, she was slighted, but Kate had broken the one rule Trixa always held to - you don't target the innocent. It was sin tax, people sin, tricksters tax and Kate didn't seem to get that. She needed to learn that lesson and as young as she was, she should be able to do it and if nothing else, Trixa liked to consider herself a teacher.

So she watched. As Kate came and went, Trixa learned the paths she took, the habits she was forming and it didn't take long to chose her battlefield. There was a portion of her usual route that was secluded and around sunset there were plenty of shadows to add ambiance. Leaning against a tree, off to the side, she waited for Kate to come into earshot. She stood mostly in shadow, her face almost entirely obscured and spoke with an artificially light tone.

"I gotta wonder what the whole point of it was. You trying to count coup, little girl?"
