Questions for September, since I forgot to do this.
244. Close your eyes and picture a shelf on your character’s library. List the titles of the books on that shelf.
Haha. No books. :P
245. How does your character prefer to celebrate his victories and successes?
He likes to celebrate his victories and successes by pigging out on his favorite foods, of course! There’s nothing like celebrating something you’re proud of than going out for something to eat with friends.
246. What is your character’s view on privacy-his and others?
Lightning enjoys his privacy and he’d prefer not to hear about other people’s business if it’s gross or if it has nothing to do with him or anything he’s familiar with. There are some things that Lightning would prefer not to know and he’d like for it to stay that way.
247. What double standards does your character hold? How does he expect to be treated differently from the ways in which he treats others? Does he acknowledge this double standard or deny it? [I never got around to answering this one; I'll get to it later, promise!]
248. What sort of legacy does your character wish to leave behind?
Lightning wants to be remembered for who he was and what he's done, especially about his abilities that he finds to be the very reason why he's here. If he can't leave that behind, he'd feel as if he were hopeless otherwise.
249. What would your character like to see written on his tombstone?
"Lightning, Tavis Williams; Teen Titan. He will be missed."
250. Write an obituary for your character.
I'll pretend that this is some sort of newspaper article about it: "A week ago, a Teen Titan member died after two weeks of being in a coma after a battle. The Teen Titan you know as Lightning, his real name withheld for his family's protection, went with his brother Thunder to fight a monster that we know as Cinderblock, and a blow to the head knocked Lightning unconscious. It was reported that the family decided to take him off of life support and to let nature take its course. Lightning was thirty-one years old. So far there has been no word from his family, but his brother Thunder did say that 'my brother will be missed... but I'm comforted to know that he went peacefully.' " And why at the age of thirty-one? I honestly have no clue o_o; I can't see Lightning living past fifty, with how adventurous and daring of a person he is and his line of work. The combination sets him up for a lot of accidents.
251. Imagine that a local newspaper or alumni newsletter has chosen to spotlight your character this month. Write that article, or the interview held by the reporter.
Reporter: For today's interview for, we have Lightning, of the Teen Titans. We appreciate you coming in today, seeing as how hard it is to take a break off of your routine, but where is your brother, Thunder? I thought he was going to come with you today.
Lightning: I am afraid that he was called to a mission and he told me to go ahead without him. He will be fine, I am sure.
R: Well, it's good that one of you shown up today. So let's get started with these questions, shall we? First off, it was only just awhile ago that you and your brother first came to Jump City, but you two weren't exactly good guys, right?
L: We were not villains, though. We merely came here to have our fun, and we met with the Teen Titans in the middle of it when they interrupted it.
R: You two didn't think that you two would be able to become Titans after that, didn't you?
L: Well, why wouldn't we become Titans? Our powers are great and we have much potential.
R: *Laughs* Very confident, aren't we?
L: There is nothing wrong with a bit of confidence, is there?
R: No, of course not. But now that you have mentioned it, this rumor that's been around around about you and Kilowatt-
L: *Interrupting* What of it?
R: There's been a rumor in different tabloids and magazines that you two have a huge rivalry that goes way back. So Lightning, maybe you can make things clear for us. Are you two actually fighting?
L: Never! I do not even know who this Kilowatt is aside from how he looks. Where do these people get the idea from?
R: Well, both you and Kilowatt are best known for your abilities. When you think about it, your abilities are very similar.
L: Correction: he generates and controls electricity, while I, on the other hand, control lightning. *Smirks* I do believe it is obvious who the better one is.
R: And you say this knowing that Kilowatt will probably be reading this?
L: Yes, I am well aware of that, but it is the truth.
R: I see. Well, moving on. It says here that you have a bit of a fan girl.
L: ... How do you know that? *Looks around, a tad bit paranoid*
R: Why, all of the Titans that we have previously interviewed are aware of it, Lightning. There's also a rumor going around that there is more to you two than you two are showing us. Is there a bit of a romance going on behind closed doors?
L: You're kidding, right? *Laughs* She is merely a fan and nothing more. I do not see where any of this is coming from?
R: I take it that you haven't seen the cover of "Titans Digest"? *Takes out a copy and shows it to him; on the cover, in a small box towards the bottom right, is a picture of Lightning kissing Duela in the Nexus. The caption of the picture says: "This Week's It-Couple"*
L: ...That is taken completely out of context!
R: Is it now? When we spoke with your "unofficial fan girl", she didn't seem to think so.
L: Well, there is nothing going on between us. It is just a case of having a fan that takes her liking too far.
R: But you were the one that approached her and--
L: Can we please discuss something else?
R: Oh, right! Well, actually, we're just about done here, but one more question. Do you feel that you're happy with how you're doing with the Teen Titans?
L: I am satisfied with how things are going. I did not think that things would be so amusing, but there are new and exciting things every day. I must say, it is the most fun that my brother Thunder and I have ever had.
R: I'm glad that you are both happy with how things are. Thank you for answering some of our questions and taking the time to come down here.
252. What is the most shameful thing that ever happened to your character? [Same with this one, unfortunately!]
253. What is the most embarrassing thing that ever happened to your character?
As of right now, in the roleplaying community, being turned into a “generic magical girl” is probably the most embarrassing situation that’s ever happened to him.
254. Does your character hold any extremist political viewpoints?
Since he’s not a very political person in the first place, no, he doesn’t hold any extremist political viewpoints, at least none that he’d like to share with anyone.
255. If your character had to pick one popular saying to embody his philosophy toward life, what would it be?
256. In terms of romantic relationships, what is your character’s “type”? What does he think his type is? Are these two things the same or different?
His type? Hmm... well, he likes girls that are easy going and won't give him much of a hard time about anything. Carefree, outgoing, and they have to be willing to do just about anything; that usually keeps his attention for awhile. Basically, a girl that keeps him going is good for him. But what he thinks his type is and what his type actually is is quite different. He thinks he'd rather much get along with a girl that's like him, but in actuality, the girl he wants? They would KILL each other in an instant if she had the same personality. He would have to need some sort of a girl that calms him down a bit xD;
257. When was the last time your character took a vacation?
For Lightning, vacation's all the time! Heh, but he took one a few months ago with his brother Thunder, and they've both settled down in Jump City not too long ago.
258. What person has most influenced your character’s development as an adult?
He's not an adult yet, but when he was younger his father greatly influenced him, as much as he wouldn't admit that outloud. His father told him about the world outside their little city, and Lightning always wanted to get out and see it for himself. So he did, eventually.
259. Did your character have any heroes as a child?
Nobody specific, no.
260. Open up the cabinets in your character’s bedroom and describe what you find there.
You would mostly just fine small things like undergarments, bottles of clensing oil that he has to bathe in, a tooth brush, a box of bandages, and small things that he collected from traveling around such as coins and the likes. You may also find a few magazines he'll flip through if he's bored, a few packs of gum he fancies once in a blue moon, and a wallet all the way in the back of a dresser drawer somewhere.
261. What is the best vacation your character has ever taken?
When he visited the country France, mostly because Lightning enjoyed the different aspects about it (food, mostly) and he liked freaking everyone out. People from France do NOT like Lightning :D;
262. What is the most memorable romantic encounter your character has ever had?
Does kissing his stalker in the Nexus due to a bottle that he spun count? If not, well, he was called cute by Ophelia recently and he got her a snowglobe. That's as romantic as he's ever been, at least recently, and the one that sticks out to him the most.
263. What is the biggest lie your character has ever told?
He once lied to Thunder and told him that he was actually not his twin brother. He told Thunder that he was really found in a trash bin when he was a baby and that “mother always loved me more, so that is why you get more chores around the house” (when in reality, she gives Thunder more chores because he’s more responsible). Lightning was a brat and often lied about things just to egg Thunder on.
264. What is the most cruel and hurtful thing your character has ever done?
I’m sure there’s plenty on the list that Thunder can name off. Lightning’s known to do hurtful things to people in anger without realizing it, but he certainly wasn’t cruel, at least not on purpose.
265. Has your character ever broken any laws? Did he get caught?
Why, yes. Both Thunder and Lightning showed up on a bridge in Jump City, destroyed parts of the bridge, made cars flip over, he’s ruined architectures, and he’s also caused forest fires. They were both caught by the Teen Titans, of course, and even after they got accepted into the Teen Titans, they had a LOT of things to do to get the city back in shape.
266. Who was your character’s best friend during childhood?
If you’ve been reading this up to this point, you would know by now that Thunder was probably his best friend during his childhood, along with their small group of friends while they were growing up.
267. If your character were to paint the inside of his house, what color scheme would he use?
He would probably use bright colors to liven up the inside of his house, such as orange and yellows. A bit of red, because he likes red.
268. Who was your character’s best friend during his teenage years?
Right now he is in his teenage years and Thunder still remains as what he can consider a “best friend”. Lightning doesn’t have a lot of close friends right now at this point in his teenage years, since most of the people he talks with are fair-weather friends (yes, that’s a pun). Right now, though, Ophelia's one of his good friends, even though he hasn't known her that long yet.
269. Describe your character’s dream home.
It would probably be a large home that he and his brother could share when they’re older, one that’s about two stories high, a good view of the location the dream home is in, and it’s probably filled with bright colors such as oranges, yellows, and bright reds, just as I said above. His room is definitely going to be big, because he's always wanted a bigger room than the ones that he already has now. And anything with a large backyard where he can blow stuff up? That's his dream home right there.
270. Who was your character’s best friend during adolescence?
It was probably somebody that Lightning knew locally where he lived, since this was the time that Lightning didn’t get along very well with Thunder. They were both developing their powers during adolescence, and they were both handling it much differently. At first Thunder was reluctant to use them, while Lightning wanted to embrace the new changes and use them to his advantage. Eventually they both started to practice their powers together, but it took awhile to reach that point.
271. Describe your character’s childhood home.
It’s relatively small but large enough for the three family members that there was. There were exactly four rooms. One room was the living room and the kitchen combined, one room was the bathroom, one room was their parents’ (or mother’s) bedroom, and the last room was a room that he shared with Thunder, and it’s small in an uncomfortable way since the two of them in the small room is practically impossible to get used to. (Haha, Yes, Thunder-mun is probably going "YOU DON'T ASK ME ABOUT THESE THINGS?!" ^__^; I thought about these things before Thunder came about :D;; *IS that big of a dork*)
272. What is the most cruel and hurtful thing your character has ever said?
Many things, and they usually come out without him even realizing what he’s saying. Just sit back and watch them fly.
273. How good is your character at manipulating other people? To what end does he do it?
Lightning is probably so-so when it comes to manipulating people. He can either be bad or good at it. On one hand, he feels he doesn’t have to manipulate anyone, especially if it’s in the company of people he actually likes. On the other hand, if there’s a big crime going on and he has to get information out of somebody, the manipulation can definitely come in handy.
