Superstitions are things everyone holds whether they realize it or not. Black cats. Broken mirrors. The number thirteen. Knocking wood. Many varied and sundry things and these are but a few. One wonders how they began and why they hold such power over the minds of people and their every day actions.
Loki himself has his own spot in the hall of those linked with superstition. Probably in more ways than we'll ever know but certainly in that he is linked to the number thirteen. Yes, it is said the number is unlucky because tehre were thirteen present at the Last Supper but there is a story older than that that speaks of their being thirteen at another supper. And here, Loki was the the uninvited, unwanted, and unwelcome thirteenth guest. It was here he insulted all of the Aesir by simply pointing out their flaws in the most pointed way possible. It was here that he sealed his doom.
He's decided, since then, that thirteen is his lucky number. Just to be perverse.
