Went to book fair/library.

Read over the last month or so:

The Whispering Mountain by Joan Aiken
Meesto is more the Joan Aiken fan than me, I got this book for him. But I read it for the first time and quite enjoyed it. Some interesting handling of dialogue. Rather gothic.

What Katy Did, What Katy Did at School. Some Authoress
Loved these books when I was 10. Had one of those desires to check and see how my tastes had changed. Gawwwwd. This is the story of a bossy nasty little girl who has a bad accident and through pain and strife (ha!) learns to be 'sweet'- until she goes to school and becomes a priggish boy-hater. Utter, utter crap. I am bemused that I liked this shit back then. Must have been an exceptionally boring summer I was trying to endure or something...

Little Women- Louisa May Alcott
Read and enjoyed when I was 10, but now strikes me as massively boring. Empoverished young gentlewomen discover life sucks and they must make the best of things by cutting off their hair and marrying whoever's available. Blah. I guess if I'd actually really liked it I would have read it more than once back then. Is Jo a total writer-insert MarySue or what?

American Gods- Neil Gaiman
This is the first novel by him I've read. Got it out of the library. It didn't grab me. Maybe his others are more... more grabby? I dunno. From the fanfare I was expecting something different.

Four assorted books whose titles and plots I forgot by Georgette Heyer.
These were sort of like eating really really good cotton candy. Enjoyable, sweet fluffy candy that you can eat quickly in large volumes and not get full. Or remember anything about afterwards either. There were some plucky heroines, I think? But so enjoyable, whatever they were about. Hey, at least they didn't turn my poop green.

...So glad I'm no longer called upon to write book reports for grades, eh? ;)
