Has it been discussed how I am sort of a method writer?
In a lot of my writing situations, I find that I can't write what I don't know or what I haven't experienced. So no love scenes from me. And it's not really a bad thing. A lot of the time it just means I can write something even better because I actually know what I'm talking about.
Except what often happens is when I write about something in which I don't know what I'm talking about, I have to actually try it out so that I do.
Case in point...Brooklyn and I have been writing a story for the past five years. In a scene we wrote last year, we had a character chewing an entire pack of Juicy Fruit at once. Naturally, we had to try it out ourselves. So we went to Wal-Mart, bought a five stick pack of Juicy Fruit, which I promptly tore open and stuck every single piece of gum in my mouth.
For the record, it's possible. Sure it's a little hard working all those pieces at first, but once they're mushed up enough everything's fine. You just have a crazy big wad of gum in your mouth.
Well the next instance has been in the writing of my Psych fic. (Yes yes, she's crazy insane.) I play off the gag in the "Rob-a-Bye Baby" episode where Shawn keeps eating the movie popcorn and pineapple jelly beans together.
So today, I bought a bag of Jelly Bellies at Wal-Mart, and tried a pineapple and buttered popcorn jelly bean together.
Shawn's right. They're awful, but you just can't stop eating them.
I guess what I wonder is if my entire life is going to be like this. I think I could handle it if it were.
...In other news, it's frakkin' cold out here. (Yes, she just used "frakkin'." Really, it's the only correct word in this context.) A whopping -17 degrees, with a grand total of -31 with windchill. I think I shall die.
