I'm driving to work, in a good mood, ready to have a great day and I'm listening to my October mix cd. Nina Simone's "Feeling Good" comes on and for the first time this month it makes me think of Jen.
Usually it's Steely Dan that makes me think of her but she loved Nina Simone. So as I'm driving down the highway feeling good while listening to "Feeling Good" I think of Jen and hope that wherever she's waking up out there this morning that she's also feeling the same. Then I just got sad because I realized that part of me doesn't really expect her to be out there at all. When she moved out she said that the guy she was leaving for was her last shot. She was all in on him and if things didn't work with him she swore she was done with this world and all the shit hand it had dealt her.
Jen, if you're still out there, think of me and check back here on a whim I just want you to know there are people from your past that think of you fondly and with love. I hope you're happy and found the home you were always looking for and never finding.
