These past few weeks have been quite slow for the people in my country.
Right now, I feel so useless.
Friday...
Had an overnight in school. It was raining hard but me and my classmates were having so much fun.
We slept with the really cold and misty air that was going inside our classrooms.
Saturday...
Woke up early with a dark, stormy morning and took a bath at around 6:00 am because I had to stay in school to help out in setting up for a school event. The not-so-happy day came intense with the ice-cold water and the breeze from outside the bathroom. Not wanting that to completely ruin the morning, I enjoyed breakfast with my friends, with hot chocolate and annoying jokes.
All my things were packed, and we were dismissed. I met with my committee mates to set up. I checked my phone and the bands that were to be screened that day already left me a couple of messages. Like, "Won't the band screening be postponed?" or "My band might be late 'coz of the rain." This girl even called, crying on the other line, and begging me to reschedule their band. 10:00am came and only four of the tens of bands have arrived. The student council and the committee heads all met, and we talked about what we should do. We gathered news and other info that it's already like an ocean down the city. We decided to contact the people on their way to try to get back home if they can. Of course we were gonna postpone it.
Noon came and
lydnyt called me up from her house. Later, her dad picked me up and Niqui, and we went to their house. I was trying to contact my family. There was no dial tone in the phone lines. No signal from our service provider. Good thing Tyndyl's dad was using another type, and I was able to send a message to my parents.
Sunday...
Niqui and I stayed for the night at
lydnyt and
irabuarashi 's house. Niqui was picked up in the afternoon. As for me, I was to still stay at their house until we get news. I was quite worried inside.
That same night, we received a phone call from Niqui's mom. The tone of Tyndyl's dad's voice kept me frozen on my seat.
Monday...
My brothers were brought here with me at
lydnyt 's house. I'm glad they're okay. I would not know what to do if I just woke up and realize that it would just be me. We couldn't leave because Tyndyl's parents were busy. A lot of things are still going on and even more horrible news keep on coming.
Today...
It's now noon. Ain't raining anymore and the sun's shining, but the wind's kind of strong. My brother caught a slight fever and doesn't want to rest. But then again, I'm glad we're okay.
We're going to visit our house later. I heard the first floor was a disaster. After that, we're gonna visit our good friends who passed away.
To my fellow Filipinos out there, let us continue praying as one nation. For all the souls that were lost in the typhoon. For the families that are trying to find that flickering light of hope. God will never give us something that we couldn't handle. We should all overcome the challenges that He wants us to fight. We should continue searching for that distant tomorrow.
These past few days,
I've forgotten that I don't deserve to complain and pity myself.
I've forgotten that more people are experiencing even worse.
Who am I to talk about existing hope to the hopeless?
I'm a child of God. We are. And miracles have happened and will happen.
