Sorry, this entry is all messed up, but I couldn't get it better...I hope it's readable...
You hate SPAM-Emails? Well, me too, but I love their name, because they always remind me of Monty Python. Why? Because they were named after a sketch of them from the 70s... Today, 40 years ago, the first episode of „Monty Pythons Flying Circus“ was aired on BBC at 11 p.m.. John Cleese (better known as the new „R“ in the newest James Bond movies), Eric Idle, Terry Jones, Michael Palin (not related to Sarah Palin ;) ), Graham Chapman and Terry Gilliam did a fabulous job with it. It was groundbreaking, in my opinion. They destroyed taboos, walked around in women's clothes, made fun of everything and nothing and I think, the best “work with words“ ever, was done by the Pythons. I adore them. I love „The life of Brian“ or „The Holy Grail“. I just love these movies. I have to watch „The Meaning of life“ soon, too. The sketches are so ridiculously funny and witty and just so damn British. I love the Brits and their black humor. I think that's the one and only humor. Black, dry and naughty :D
So, in Honor of the Pythons and in gratitude for their very own
YouTube-Channel), I took five of my favorite Clips of the Pythons in here, that are in any way connected to my life. That's hard because I wasn't even born, when they were aired, but I loved them since I saw them one night on German TV...
And they have something for everyone. There is so much more of Monty Python. Check them out please and tell me what you think. The YT Channel is a good start and all of it in HQ!
So, here it comes.
University: There are actually two clips for my university-„work“. One that's more political and one that's more philosophical/theoretical:
1.Constitutional Peasants
They argue about political systems, class and social differences... Totally like we do in political studies :D

2.Philosopher's Song
Almost all of the German philosophers are in there. Do you know them all? ;) I don't but I think I heard of all of them through my university-time in Sociology.;) There is a similar song from “Wise Guys” in German: “Philosoffen” if someone is interested, it's also on YouTube ;)

My teenager years:
Staying up till after 1 a.m. To watch the Pythons, laughing my ass off and praying I could buy the Video somewhere... Songs and Sketches that I saw now and knew that I watched them as a kid! There is one Sketch that was burned in my brain, since I saw it. I love this sketch so much, it's silly. A little Monty Python story: Graham Chapman died of cancer and John Cleese was holding the speech at the funeral. He quoted this sketch and used all the phrases he used for the parrot in the sketch. He said Chapman would have loved it because he was one of the writers of the sketch. I just love these little stories...:

4.Lumberjack Song
A song that won't leave my ear and my eye. I love this song and the sketch. The lyrics are so funny. But the best part is, when they want to go and have to sing further. I just can't help laughing about that... Another proof for their fearlessness. Crossdressing? No problem for Monty Python :D

My views on religion and stuff:
5.Stoning
A very serious topic and I adore them to integrate it in their “Life of Brian” movie. It was one of the first Monty Python things I saw. I love the whole film and I think that's partly rooted in my opinion about church and religion. I am not a big fan of religious institutions and I like how the Pythons make fun of stupid rules and “The Messiah” and things. That's just how I see it, so don't be upset by my words please...Everyone is entitled to have their own beliefs.

That was my little Monty Python retrospective. I hope you had as much fun as I had doing this entry by reading it. Go, watch them. It's tv history, it's society-history it's so much more! Thanks for listening...
And now to something completely different. (Yeah, that's something for the insiders ;) )
