Woah. Summer must be the busy season. All of a sudden we are being asked to be booked in a ton of places. It's very exciting, but also a bit overwhelming to try and fit it all in! One in particular is really exciting, and as soon as the contract is signed, I will post it. I can say that we will be back at Capitol Club either in July or August. Looking foward to that! More info will be posted as I get it.
Still waiting to see what day we perform at Med Fest. Here's hoping it's not too early or too late. Not that I want to dance in full hot sun, either, but when vending, I gotta have a buffer on both sides of set up and shut down.
Troupe naming can't come soon enough. We need to update every postcard, business card, contract, website, etc with the old name on it. And we won't have a new one for a week. Seems fast on one hand, but with the new gig stuff coming in, we are only minorly stressed about getting the name change done quickly and smoothly...and yesterday. Wish us luck!
Went to Portland this week for training. Always a good time. This week in privates with Paulette, I had to show her an intermediate warm-up, then teach her the moves from the repertoire, then she drilled me in moves by having me just dance while she sat and called out moves. She also called out side switches, so I would be in the middle of a right sided move, and she would call out "Basic Egyptian, left hip", and I had to transition smoothly and with the music. I was shocked at how well it went. I struggle with many left sided moves, but once I got in the groove it went alright. I wish it always went that smoothly. In classes it was exhausting. Dulcinea taught all the classes, and she did a lot of levels, some floorwork, and LEFT SIDE. Exhausting. My thighs are still recovering from floorwork laybacks and level changing Arabics/body waves. Phew! Good times.
