Well, well, well...I am finally doing it. I am taking my journal writing online. Hubby suggested it might be a fun thing to try, so I poked around and decided to plant some roots here and see what blossoms. To anyone who bothers to read my journals, welcome and gee, sorry. LOL Can't guarantee I will be all that fascinating, but I can almost guarantee I will write a lot. I can't help myself. I love writing.
At any rate...
So this week-end was Med Fest here in Seattle. My troupe performed on Saturday morning, which was a sucky time slot all the way around. I was vending, you see, and setting up the tent was much harder than usual. Of COURSE the tent would give us trouble when I was under a time crunch. We were the fourth act of the day, so I had to be set up and dressed FAST. Luckily I had the help of Zanbaka and Julie, as well as my wonderful mother and my darling husband (even if he did show up late *smirk*).
So we took the stage, and felt BEEEEYOOOOOTIFUL! We debuted our new gypsy costumes that morning, and they were really really great. I will post pictures on my website when we get them scanned. The performance itself went very well. Our improv pieces were not as variety-filled as we would have liked, but the pictures and video show we were really "on". It was a tight performance. Our choreographed song went well, too. Cheers and ooh-ahs in all the right places. A group of my fabulous students came to see the show, and the cheered and zaghareeted enough that it could have been a full audience. *smile* I love them so much. I have the awesomest students!
The other performances were hit and miss (more miss, but that is what you get at big events like this). Some of my favorite perofrmances were Shoshanna, Banat Sahar, Amelia Moore, Sister Caravan, Elizabeth Dennis (OH JESUS!), and Habib. I was captivated by these performances, at an event where I was really busy at my booth, so that is saying something.
Yes, sales went well. I was worried. It seemed very slow compared to last year. People and their money are not easily parted these days. :/ But I did better than last year, while Zanbaka, unfortunately, did worse. I think it had to do with price-point and variety. I had a lot more stuff and a lot of it was smaller stuff. Her items are gorgeous, but pricier.
Okay, housekeeper is here and I have a lot of work to do today anyway. Damn it's gonna be a hot day!
