Kitchen [Sammy/Willow/Mouse/Flower]

May 26, 2004 03:39

"Dishes shouldn't take that long." Sammy promised Mouse as he gathered up his own empty dishes and headed inside the kitchen to start washing the ones already in the sink. Part of the Tribe had already finished eating, and it looked like everyone else was almost finished ( Read more... )

Willow walked quickly towards the cafe, her eyes shyly downcast as she passed the place everyone had been eating at earlier, though she spied out of the corner of her eye Ryan, Flower, and Anna. She rounded a corner into the extra cafe and stopped, there was a boy with exceptionally bright two toned hair standing at the sink washing dishes. She chewed on the inner part of her bottom lip and sighed, well, if he was doing the washing up, she had to give the bowls to him. Willow walked slowly around the counter then over to the sink. "Hi, I'm Willow," she said in a meekly quiet voice. "Are you doing the washing up by yourself? I, well I could help, if you like? I can dry them?" It didn't seem fair to her that one person would wash and dry all of the dishes for such a large Tribe, surely there was someone else who had the honor of helping the boy? "Is there someone who should be helping? I can go and fetch them if you, well if you tell me what they look like and where I can find them," well that was annoying, she didn't know anyone here ( ... )

Mouse couldn't believe it when she entered the kitchen and saw yet another one of Ryan's kids. Were they taking over the Mall or something?? She went over to the sink and threw her bowl into the water Sammy was filling it with not even noticing it splashing over the edge before stomping off again to her room.

Sammy was surprised that the girl offered to help, picking up a towel to begin drying the dishes. He'd been doing the dishes alot the past week, so he was pretty used to it. And nobody really offered to help with the chore. It was usually just passed along, and the dishes left to air dry. Before he could comment, though, Mouse stormed in. She looked like she was suddenly in a really bad mood, though he wasn't sure why. She'd been looking a bit happier when he left the cafe ( ... )

Willow watched almost in shock as a small girl, that same one from before, came storming in and threw the bowls into the sink, giving a small yelp as water splashed at her, landing on her white jumpsuit. She glanced down and pressed the dishrag to the wet spot, frowning, what had caused, Mouse, that was her name, what had caused such a reaction? Willow glanced at Sammy, maybe he was her boyfriend or something, and the thought that Mouse was jealous of Willow helping him do the dishes made her blush. Willow wasn't after the boy, she was just inclined to help, and she hadn't thought it fair that someone wasn't helping him do the washing up. Perhaps it was Mouse's job to help him, and Willow had stepped in unwanted. The look he'd given her to begin with had been somewhat surprised, so maybe she'd just done the wrong thing, as she sometimes did ( ... )

"Thanks Flower," Willow answered softly, picking up the dishes and moving close to Sammy to place them in the water, blushing and looking away quickly, returning to her dishes to dry. Willow didn't want to tell him how they'd all met up, she didn't know who knew about the Chosen here and who didn't, or how they felt, and the last thing she wanted to do was to alienate herself because she'd worked willing with the Chosen. It wasn't as if she'd wanted to, Dawn had made her, promising her it'd be a better life for both of them, but after the way Macy treated her in the mines- Willow stopped, she didn't want to even think about it. She took a deep breath and ignored his last question, "Well it must be nice to belong to a Tribe now. I can't remember much before I joined Ryan's Tribe, and now we're a part of something much bigger, I guess," she furrowed her eyebrows and frowned a little. Ryan had told her to settle in, they'd be here for a while, and he'd told her that the Mall Rats took care of each other, implying that they'd be taking ( ... )

Sammy looked blankly after the little girl who'd run in and out of the kitchen so fast, but turned back to the dishes with a shrug. He listened to what Willow was saying and nodded. When she exited he wondered if he'd said something that upset her. Strange since he wasn't feeling moody now like he had the last few days.

He concentrated on the dishes, and was glad when she returned. Still, he wasn't really sure what else to say now. He really wasn't all that much of a talker. He settled for smiling at her instead, and returning to the chore. With everyone still coming and going he'd probably end up with more dishes even afater he was done with everything they had now.

Willow dried the dishes quietly, and when the stacks got high, she glanced around, noting the cabinets, and she started to poke around, carefully putting them away where she found others. When she returned to his side, drying more bowls, this was a big job, so many people eating at once! So much food being cooked at once, it was daunting to consider this a three times a day job. "You all eat three times a day here I bet? Three square meals?" Willow laughed, a soft smirk on her face, she couldn't imagine really, it wasn't as if their Tribe had starved, they even grew their own vegetables, but they didn't always get 3 meals a day, though they tried. Salene was in charge of meals, that's what Ryan had said, of the shopping and setting up the chore rotas, and she seemed like a good motherly type, at least for now, and that did seem to fit into the role of the Mother, didn't it ( ... )

"3 meals a day, though we're not always all here. And the Tribe's really gotten big. There weren't this many people when the Technos were here, y'know?" Sammy answered her first question as he finished washing the dishes. He paused as she kept asking one question after another. Shutting off the water he started helping put the dishes away.
"It's okay to be curious. Um...I don't read much. But Salene reads alot. And Siva's teaching Mouse - I think. We never really had enough kids around for sports. It was just me and Mouse, unless Cloe joined us - but she really didn't much. We have watergun fights, and there was VR for awhile." He tried to sound casual about the VR, but only half suceeded. It was obviuos he'd really liked the VR.
