Location - Mouse's Room - Mouse/Brady

Mouse rummaged through some of her stuff. She knew she had atleast two jump ropes, but where had they been put? She checked her shelves and in the toy box Salene had set up in her room. She pulled everything out and was happy to find them on the very bottom. "Ah HA!" She was excited, forgetting to put everything back.

Brady watched as Mouse jumped over the rope each time, well it looked easy enough. She put the rope behind her just like Mouse had, just where she'd put it, and then she swung it over. It didn't quite go over her head, instead, because she moved her hands out away from her body, it hit her in the back of the head and she frowned. That hadn't worked at all! Brady tried again, and as the rope swung over her head and landed at her feet, she stepped over the rope, "Like that Mouse?" She hadn't quite done it like Mouse had, but she swung the rope over again and this time she jumped, only, just one leg went over the rope and the other stayed behind, the rope was caught between her legs! Brady tried to step out of it, but she pulled up instead and she couldn't quite get it, having to try twice before it was behind her again. She gave a frustrated sigh and brushed the hair off of her forehead that had some how fallen out of her ponytails and was in her eye. "I can't do this!" she cried, trying again, letting it land on the floor at her feet before she stepped over it again, well, that worked best, so that had to be right she supposed.

Mouse watched Brady try to jump rope. She hadn't thought that maybe she was too young, but she was fine with just stepping over it. "It's alright, Brady. You're doing great! When you practice some more you can do it like me." Mouse began jumping again, her feet pounding on the floor as she did. She guessed she could skip a little better, but this was more fun. She thought about tying one end to the railing and then she could teach Brady to jump that way. You always needed more than just two people to do it that way, but if you had some place to tie the other end it was just as good. She stopped and did just what she was thinking about, taking the one end in her hand and returning to Brady. "Wanna try it this way? I'll move the rope and you just jump."

Brady glanced up the railing from where they were standing, that yellow caution tape still there. She wasn't allowed near the railing, that was explicitly forbidden, "I dunno Mouse, Mommy said not to go near railings, she said it's not safe," she reminded her, her little finger pressed to her lip, looking up, concerned about getting into trouble. "I dunno what do you think?"

Mouse looked at the railing. It didn't seem that bad. You could lean on it and even over it without a problem, but it seemed like Trudy had made one of those "rules" for Brady and she would have to listen to it. If they didn't they could get in BIG trouble. "It's okay. We'll just skip rope like I taught you." She went back over to the railing and spent the next few minutes trying to untie the knot she had made. She apparently had it too tight and couldn't figure out how to unloop it. She made a face. She wanted to skip rope not spend time knoting and unknoting things!

Brady stayed back, watching from a short distance as Mouse wrestled with the knot, now she felt bad, she just didn't want to get in trouble with her Mommy, and if the railing was dangerous, Brady was afraid of it. "Maybe we can tie it to a bed?" Who had a bed they could tie it to? She didn't know, maybe her own bed? But there wouldn't be enough room for that. Hmmm, well they could just jump rope like before, Mouse was right, only, now it was getting boring because Brady wasn't so good at it, but she was also determined and she wanted to be just as good as Mouse at skipping rope, so she'd continue to try. As soon as Mouse got the rope untied of course.

Mouse continued to wrestle with the knot. She had been dumb and pulled it the wrong way, that's why it was now stuck. She might have to get someone else to do it for her. And she wasn't sure who cuz it had been Pride who had shown her and Charlie how to tie knots. She was distracted by some noise downstairs and kneeled to look through the bars to see what was going on. She saw a large group gathering down there and heard one little girl yell Daddy before attacking Ryan. She frowned. She knew they were coming, but why today? It had been a good day until now. "Dozey's." She grumped.

Brady watched Mouse leaning forward, she too could hear the noise but she didn't want to get so close to the dangerous railing. "Who's down there Mouse? What'sa dozey?" Brady stood on her tippy toes trying to see if she could spy who was there, it sounded like little kids, but she couldn't be sure and there were always people coming in and out of the Mall for the hospital. Brady remembered the hurt people she'd spied in there as she'd wandered in and out when playing downstairs, it was sad and scary and she didn't really like the hospital but it didn't scare her either. She saw Ryan had raced down the stairs and she could hear Salene's voice, "What is it, who's there?"

Mouse turned to Brady. "Those are Ryan's kids. Remember when Salene told us about that? Apparently they're here for whatever reason." She looked back down, twisting her mouth. Six. Six more kids and she knew Salene was going to like them just because they were Ryan's kids. Although not all of them looked that little. She wanted a closer look, but wasn't sure if she really wanted to go downstairs and meet them. Salene would force her soon enough. She started to get really grumpy and in one way didn't understand why.

Brady put her finger to her mouth and thought about this, no she didn't remember, she didn't always listen when adults talked, and she hadn't paid attention obviously because she didn't remember anything about Ryan's kids. "Noooo," she said trailing off, twisting her mouth, Mouse looked kinda mad, Brady didn't really understand why she was mad, was it about the jump rope. "Maybe we should ask Mommy to get the rope," she suggested, taking a step towards Mouse. "Don't worry Mouse, Mommy can undo it," she said softly, she didn't want her friend to be mad. "Are those kids staying here? And what's a dozey?" Brady didn't forget, she'd asked her, maybe Mouse just hadn't heard that part.

"Ya, they're staying here." She took a deep breath. "Don't worry about the knot. We can ask Amber later. And don't repeat what I said about Dozey, okay?" She didn't want to get into trouble with Salene about it. She stood up and backed away from the railing because she knew Brady wouldn't get any closer and she didn't want to see what was going on downstairs any more. "We can use your jump rope for awhile if you want. Or maybe draw something?" Mouse suggested a few ideas.

Brady nodded, "Ok Mouse, I won't," she whispered about not repeating the dozey, but she still wanted to know what it meant. "What does it mean though? I won't tell," she promised, her eyes big. She nodded about drawing, "Drawing yeah!" Brady clapped and bounced a little, her voice happy and boisterous, but she stopped for a minute and thought about what Mouse had said. Kids were gonna stay in the Mall? "Let's go see the kids Mouse! That will be fun!" Brady took Mouse's hand and started to drag her towards the stairs, pulling as best she could, the older girl wasn't easy to pull along but Brady was trying.

"Dozey is someone stupid. Like Sammy can be." She giggled a little at this. Sammy could be a great person to play with, but he was so dumb sometimes. Then Brady started to pull her to go downstairs. "Brady! I don't want to. And it won't be fun." She didn't want to meet them just yet. She could just imagine what they would be like. She wrinkled her nose.

Brady covered her mouth and giggled, Sammy was stupid? He was the bright haired boy, she knew him, but he didn't really talk to Brady, or play, so what did she know about him? Well now she knew he was stupid, how sad! That probably wasn't nice, and she remembered not to repeat it, but it was funny anyway. Brady turned as Mouse protested, stopping, "But why not? We can go down and play with them! I bet they could jump rope with us! Or color or play tag or hide and seek, it could be lots of fun! How many kids are there?" Brady craned her neck to try again to see how many kids and if they were too old to play but she really couldn't see anything, "Are there girls? Maybe they will play tea party with me," no one in the Mall played tea party with Brady, Patsy had once, but Brady was generally forced to have stuffed animal tea parties which was fun, but it'd be way funner with other kids!
