From the Carpark to the Market

Nov 29, 2003 19:52

As Mouse dragged May through the carpark she tried to look for clues on Salene's disappearance. Whoever it was that took her away had to climb stairs down to the main way. Were they really that busy when she had been kidnapped to not notice this? Mouse felt really bad. Would Salene be mad that no one had stopped the attacker? Would she feel ( Read more... )

May was still playing The Game!?! Mouse couldn't believe this! She had just said that she could get another one on the way to the Game. Now Mouse was worried. Was May involved in Salene's disappearance? Was she tricking them like she had done before over the Game?? Mouse didn't know what to do.

Maybe she should follow whatever May did. Maybe if they were going to this warehouse then maybe Salene would be there. This sounded like a good plan to Mouse. Afterall she had come out here in search of Salene or Gel. She put on a determined face. She had been in danger before and had gotten out of it. If all else failed she knew the way back to the Mall. Now how to get the directions to this Warehouse...

The Owner looked back between the two. "My wares are some of the best. Where did you get your first T-Gun? I'm telling you these are exactly the ones the Technos owned. Trust me." He smiled, then twisted his mouth. "You think you'll get anything good at that side of town? They've got only messed up versions in that deserted area. I've got the good ones!"

"And if I ever need a new one I'm sure you'll be one of the people I'll come to." May replied slipping her hand into the pocket of her jacket. "But as of right now I only needed to find out where it is so I can take the prize like I did in the Virtual Game." She smiled dangerously and leaned forward on the table. "Do you doubt me?"

He held up his hands and backed off with a chuckle. "If you refer other Gamers to me I'm sure I can make it up to you." He leaned closer to her after glancing around surreptitiously. "But becareful of some of these new characters in the city. They seem to have taken an interest in the Game, but they don't take part in it."

"Yeah, I've heard something of the likes. Someone new in the City." May frowned, this guy was talking too much now. Something was up. No-one shared information this freely.

Mouse sighed. This was getting them no where. And it didn't help that it seemed May was once again involved with the Game - Virtual or Not. Who cared if there were people not getting involved! Mouse didn't intend to. Most of the Mallrats didn't intend to!! So what was the big deal???

The Owner sighed himself as he watched Mouse. "Just a little fidgety. Better get out of here." He told May. "A Zapper and a StingRay together doesn't look too good, ya know. Get to the Warehouse, but dump her first somewhere."

Mouse glared at the Owner. DUMP HER SOMEWHERE??!!?? She didn't think so. If that's the way May was going to be...

Mouse walked away from the stall. May could finish her talk however she wanted. Mouse had an idea where Salene might be if she didn't return to the Mall....

May shrugged at the stallowner and walked after Mouse. She wasn't sure what the little girl was thinking. And her silence indicated that she wasn't interested in sharing what she was thinking.

May turned the information she had just received over and over again in her head. A Warehouse with maps in the deserted part of town. And the informants were none too careful who they passed out their info to as long as they recognized you from the Virtual Game.

This new group of people watching the Game but not taking part of it intrigued her. Of course it had already been proven that the Game made a good spectator sport. Though it'd be harder to follow in Reality, and who knows when one of the Game Players might decide to make you a part of the action.

"Uhm...Mouse." She said after a few minutes looking around, this certainly wasn't the way to the Warehouses. "Where are you taking us by the way?"
