We had a gig Saturday at Patrick's in St. Peter MN. Love playing there, and while the crowd this time was an older, quieter crowd than we are used to, still had a blast playing there.
So during Johnny Jump Up I got to surprise the band with a new toy. I won't say what in case you didn't see the show. I'm sure it will be making repeat appearances. After the wackiness had ensued with the new toy, I proceeded to pick up my Kazoogle as I couldn't get my Triangle out in time. The Kazoogle is a great back up though.
I start to play and people are laughing, cause really... it's a kazoogle. Then
pihromonkey calls for a solo. I play for a bit then go to take a breath and THUK! the wax paper shoots straight down my throat.
Wylderwolf jumps in and the song continues as I cough so hard I nearly puke. Everyone in the band is getting a good laugh.
Until they realized I couldn't stop coughing. Then they just giggled while trying to ask with a straight face if I was ok. I assured them I was cool, much easier to do once I got some water down my throat and was able to cleanse the palette. Rest of the show goes on.
Later I get home and realize my throat is really scratchy. I figure it's because I was singing in a smoky bar and think nothing of it. Sunday rolls around, my throat is still feeling a bit sore and I figure I'll check my Kazoogle and see if it is something I can fix. I pull out the finely tuned instrument and give a thorough examination. I say to myself, "Wow that sure does look like the wax paper still in it's place". So I now have no idea what it was that shot down my throat and had me near tears, but at least my Kazoogle is still playable.
On a happier note, I went to Guitar Center and bought a djembe. It was my other new toy for Saturday's gig. It sounds really pretty and I had a blast playing it. Now to fine tune the mix of the djembe with our style, and find a better way to play where I can get better arm motion. My spanking hand was a bit sore after the show.
Trianglegirl was ok with that. :)
