Harry, in the mean time, was flying over the city. His shift on Lookout had ended a little while ago, but it was an uncommonly nice night at World's End so Harry took the liberty to fly out along the town for longer than usual. He should head back- he was hungry and everyone back at the apartment would start to worry, probably wonder if there is another murderer on the loose. Actually as far as they were concerned, there was another killer freely roaming around World's End. He just hadn't acted yet
( ... )
The call got his attention in that it made Tom turn to look at whoever was shouting at him. Not someone he recognized (not that he expected to, honestly), and therefore not someone he was inclined to listen to. Until he caught sight of the wand, which made him pause. Wasn't this boy a little young to be a Ministry crony?
Well. He could entertain that. Tom cast a final glance at the creatures before lowering his wand, allowing them to twitch in peace as the pain faded from their systems.
"Come to rescue the innocent monsters?" he asked, his tone lofty and a slight smirk spreading across his features.
There was no mistake now; Riddle was in World's End.
Harry's blood went cold in his veins upon seeing that cruel smirk. It wasn't quite Voldemort's smirk yet, no- it didn't quite have enough malice. But it was there, somewhere, the merciless smile that had haunted Harry's dreams since he was young...
Harry found himself frowning and lifting his wand further towards Riddle. The lobstrocities for the moment shouldn't be a problem, as their limbs were still oversensitized with pain. He took another few steps towards the other seventeen year old boy. "It's not the monsters I care about," he started in a hard low voice, "It's you. I know what you've done... I know who you are." He needed to keep his guard up against Riddle, since Harry knew the other, even at this age, was most likely still more cleverer and stronger than he was.
The abject fury that spread across the boy's face was intriguing. Tom raised a thin eyebrow slowly, listening to what Harry said and watching him advance like some kind of animal wary of a predator. Tom had never fancied himself a predator, although it couldn't be helped that everyone else was prey. He leaned back on his perch of the rock, bracing his hands behind him, fingers still curled around his wand.
"Really," he said, regarding Harry with a look of amusement. He'd never seen the boy before and honestly- what did Tom Riddle have to worry about, even here? His grin broadened again as he raised his wand hand to point at Harry; not threatening, or even indicating he was about to use any magic, but for emphasis. And, of course, to remind the uppity newcomer that he had no problem using magic against anyone else. The monsters on the ground were enough indication of that. "Prove it."
