The longer Claire was in World’s End, the more she thought about things as if they were just some weird story. It was impossible to sit down like a sane and rational person and reason through the events of her life let alone the last year. Anyone who hadn’t been there themselves would be quick to lock her up, that was for sure.
In what seemed like a darker and more personal chapter, a shape shifter, or several for all she knew, had made it’s way up from the tunnels and crawl around in her boyfriend’s skin and drag her back down into what used to be Wesker’s, er, maze of dilapidated sewer tunnels. After an unsettling conversation, he had left her alone for a while, coming back only to taunt and do necessary things like feed and keep her hydrated enough to stay alive. Not wanting the real Alex to be scuttling around ruining his fun, he captured and kept the pair. Misery loves company, after all. And besides, he had them so strung up there was no way they’d be able to break free, right?
The cold sound of water dripping on metal was the first thing she heard after waking up. Half awake, she rolled her head and shifted as far as the ropes around her body would allow, coughing slightly from the pressure of them against her chest and neck. Funny, for all her skill at wiggling out of these situations, she just couldn’t manage to get the knots undone. It was humiliating, really. Figuring she was alone, as per usual, Claire grumbled something under her breath and wiggled again. She had been working on particular knot for a few hours before giving up and taking a nap. With any luck she’d get it undone today and finally make it out of there to warn everyone… Assuming it wasn’t too late.
