Summary: Okay, so it's really not a Star Trek crossover, I promise. They're on a ship, in space. And I kind of picture them
on this bridge,
wearing these uniforms (I'm a TNG fan, so sue me). And I call the elevators turbolifts, because what else would you call an elevator in space? (No really, feel free to suggest something.) But that's where the similarities end. Beyond that it's just H50 in space which, come on, you have to admit you've thought about at least once.
"I really don't think this is what Admiral Jameson had in mind when she told you she'd look the other way as long as you got the job done," Danny said dryly, idly drumming his fingers against his forearm.
Steve raised his hands in the air in question, a perfect picture of innocence. "What? I haven't done anything that will get his confession stricken in court. Is he in any real danger?"
"Is he in any-it does not matter if his life is in danger if he confesses because he thinks he's dying! There are lines, Steven, lines and we do not cross them-"
"All right!" they heard through the speakers, the panicked voice tinny as it reverberated through the room. "All right, I'll talk! Just-just get me out of here! Don't let the air out! Please!"
Steve smirked and stood, flicking the one-way glass triumphantly as he eyed their suspect. "You think we've got him scared enough to give up Hesse?"
"You know what," Danny began conversationally, "I hope we do not. I hope we do not, because that's just positive reinforcement and you do not need anyone encouraging you to continue with these insane interrogation methods!" he snapped, following Steve out of the observation room. Noticing an ensign walking down the hallway, Danny stood a bit taller and lowered his voice. "And for the record, Steven?" he continued as they approached the airlock. "We are not going to be suffocating any more suspects, feigned or otherwise. Are we clear?"
Steve frowned, looking honestly perturbed by Danny's suggestion. "Of course I wouldn't really have done it, Danny," he replied, completely ignoring everything else Danny had said.
Danny sighed in exasperation. "For the love of-you know what, never mind. We've got a perp to question, yeah?" he said, pushing past Steve and into the airlock.
"You people are crazy!" said perp spat at him as soon as he entered, a crazed look on his face. "You can't-"
"Yeah, don't know if you were paying attention the first time-what with all the completely unnecessary violence and having to be sedated and all-so let's try the introductions again," Danny interrupted, deceptively calm. "We've got you: Sang Min, intergalactic smuggler who's going to be going away for a very long time if I have anything to say about it. Then there's me-Commander Danny Williams, at your service, or rather I would be if you happened to be a law-abiding citizen. And this," he continued, jabbing a thumb back in Steve's direction as he filed in behind him, "is Captain Steve McGarrett. He runs things around here; he's the one that locked you in here in the first place. And for the record? He doesn't like sentences that begin with 'you can't'." Danny crossed his arms and Sang Min gulped audibly, gaze flicking back and forth between the two of them. "Now," he commanded, taking a few steps forward to loom over Sang Min where he was seated on the floor. "You're going to tell us everything you know about Victor Hesse."
***
Unfortunately, what Sang Min knew about Victor Hesse amounted to 'not a whole lot'. Steve swore and punched the wall as they rode the turbolift back up to the bridge, and Danny winced at the sound the impact made.
"A hundred galaxies' tax dollars went into building this ship, babe," Danny said, trying for lighthearted, as he reached for Steve's hand to inspect it. "Let's try not to damage the equipment, huh?"
Steve shook him off and started pacing as well as you could in a room that was four feet square and had another person in it. "Nothing, Danny," he snapped, hands clasped tightly behind his back. "Not a single clue as to Hesse's whereabouts, and nothing about his habits that we didn't know already. How could he know nothing?" The last word came out hopeless and strangled, and Danny bit his tongue to hold back the reassurances and platitudes he wanted to offer; Steve would see right through them. So he just rested a hand on Steve's shoulder, forcing a stop to his pacing, and offered his silent support until the turbolift chimed and they arrived at the bridge.
"Lieutenant Commander Kelly, report," Steve barked immediately, and Danny saw Kelly's brow crease slightly at the unusual terseness of the command.
"No irregularities to report, sir," Kelly replied smoothly. "We are currently two days ahead of schedule, en route to Delta Phi. Estimated arrival in three days, six and a half hours. A communique from Admiral Jameson has been forwarded to your ready room."
Steve nodded sharply. "Lieutenant Taylor, my ready room. Commander Williams, you have the bridge."
Danny stared after Steve a moment longer than was strictly necessary, thinking. Their top secret mission on Delta Phi-so classified that Steve couldn't even tell Danny what they were doing there until they arrived-was certain to fail if Steve was this keyed-up. And they needed this mission to succeed. It was vital that they ingratiate themselves with the Federation as much as possible-Danny was no fool, he knew Jameson's protection could only go so far-and aside from that, the crew was in danger if their leader wasn't at the top of his game.
Danny made a split-second decision. "Ensign Kaye, adjust heading two zero one mark zero one five."
"Aye, sir. Adjusting heading two zero one mark zero one five."
Danny settled into the captain's chair as Kelly retook ops, and let the quiet hum of the engines wash over him as he formulated a plan.

All right, so this was just a short introduction to gauge interest-like it, hate it? Please let me know. I know I have this idea in my head, but I'm not sure if it plays out into something people want to read. So I definitely welcome all thoughts and concrit!
Next chapter: we find out what Steve wants to talk to Taylor about, and where Danny's taking them all!
