I confess, I have slacked. However, here is the beginning of my fic, which I hope to finish by the end of the day. Maybe with feedback from you lovely people, feel free to make suggestions in the comments. This is in response to
hearts_blood's prompt: "Leoben's really not used to drinking..."
So here we go, no title as yet, PG, no warnings:
Most of Leoben’s Cylon brothers and sisters think he’s nuts re: The Kara Plan. Not the other Twos, just, you know, everyone else.
Caprica Six is a notable exception. Caprica Six is, in fact, stoked, and man, do Sixes talk a lot when they’re excited.
“Love is so, so wonderful,” she says, and yeah, Leoben knows, although some Kara Thrace Sex would really solidify the concept for him. Caprica does have a lot to say about sex, too, and if she starts one more sentence with “Gaius and I used to. . .” he is going to stab someone in the eye. Possibly himself.
However, but, the thing is, etc., Caprica is one of very few Cylon resources on love available, and one of the other two is a traitor and out of reach anyway. Which leaves Boomer, and he’s not sure how Boomer feels about Leoben kidnapping the woman who used to be her friend. As he seeks her out he comforts himself with the fact that Eights are way less chatty than Sixes. Even if Boomer doesn’t have anything useful to say, she’ll just say that, as opposed to saying all of the not-useful things anyway.
Apparently Boomer has too much on her mind to worry about fiddly little things like wrongful imprisonment. Boomer says, “Kara? Please. Booze. All you need to know.”
Leoben isn’t stupid. He knows that Kara is as hard a drinker as they come, and also basically a floozy. It’s part of her charm. He just hadn’t thought to use those traits to his own advantage. Besides, his love is a pure burning flame that could never be quenched by meaningless drunken sex. But. . . Boomer has a point. At the very least alcohol and the state of inebriation are so familiar to Kara she might find them comforting in her new surroundings.
Kara Thrace isn’t stupid, either, and Leoben has no illusions about getting her to drink alone while anywhere near him. If this has any chance to work, he’s going to need to drink a lot himself. The problem is that he doesn’t drink, at all, ever. Why seek a state of altered consciousness when you naturally exist in a state of altered consciousness? Leoben’s brain is all the high he needs. His brain, and Kara Thrace. All signs indicate that Kara has an economy-size sponge in place of a liver, so if he is going to keep up (and Kara will so make him match her shot for shot) he really should have started training for this back before they nuked the Colonies
Well, too bad.

Here we end (for now)!
