"Joe the plumber" is a registered Republican, unlicensed, and doesn't own a plumbing business

Last night, during the 3rd debate between Obama and McCain, I got this text message from a friend:My Obama friends, can somebody tell me who "Joe the plumber" is and how he is making over two fiddy grand a year cause he is gonna be my new husband!
Hahaha! My friend was a fellow volunteer in Philadelphia, where I flew in April to canvass for Obama. She's a delightful divorced mom with two kids. She has a booming personality and sharp sense of humor. We talk on the phone occasionally, and she may visit the Bay Area on business.

Last night, John McCain kept bringing up this plumber Obama had met in Ohio. "Joe the plumber" asked Obama to explain his plan to increase taxes on people making over $250,000/year (from 36% to 39%---the rate under Bill Clinton). Obama spent 5 minutes humbly and carefully explaining to Joe why Obama supports a progressive tax system, in which he cuts taxes for people with lower incomes and raises taxes for people with higher incomes.

Obama shows, in that video, why he is such a fantastic teacher, why his students at the U. of Chicago Law School consistently rated him one of their favorite professors, and why I believe all great leaders MUST be great teachers.

Joe later spoke to Fox News about this conversation, saying Obama's "answer scared me even more" and calling his plan "socialist." He repeated the typical, GOP/Libertarian philosophy of selfishness and "me me me."

Joe was portrayed as an undecided voter, and both McCain and Obama spent much time last night trying to appeal to "other small business owners" like Joe.

Guess what?

Joe the Plumber is a REGISTERED REPUBLICAN (Daily Kos).

'Joe the plumber' isn’t licensed (Toledo Blade).

Joe Wurzelbacher is not undecided but already supports McCain. He's not a licensed plumber and actually practices under another guy's license. That means he is NOT allowed to do his own plumbing or have his own plumbing business. His name is misspelled in the Ohio voter registration database. Plus, here's the kicker:Mr. Wurzelbacher said he objects to Mr. Obama’s plans to raise income taxes on incomes above $250,000. He said he makes no where near that much money but he would not say how much he makes or if he ever expects to make $250,000. Court records from a divorce show Mr. Wurzelbacher made $40,000 in 2006.
Sorry, ladies! :p You need to find a new husband!

And to all those thinking of going to plumbing school...think again.

politics, funny
