A lot of it is true, but it is a jaded view of medicine.

I do take issue with the 94% of physicians take freebies from drug reps or that our patients wait while we are chatting ith the reps. Not true. At least in my institution. I buy my own pens, i do NOT take any freebies and seldom meet with reps. Our institution has strict rules for reps. They must book their appointment time within departments, and never during patient care time.

I tend to piss off reps, because the only question I ever ask is: does our healthplan cover it, why is it better than a generic that does exactly the same thing, and will medical assistance cover it? If it doesn't meet that criteria, you are clearly wasting my time.

And in pediatrics, yes, most fevers are caused by fevers. Common things are truly common.

Haha. Unlike in "House."

I worked for 2 doctors' offices, as an MA, and we had free lunch virtually daily. One of the offices was especially blatant about taking gifts from the drug reps. During Xmas, they would all exchange presents, the doc tried to introduce a girl to the rep to date, etc.
