Best English grammar book I've ever used

Oct 05, 2007 04:48

If you truly want to master English grammar, please buy this book below. I went
through the entire book when I was 15 for an advanced writing class, and I
became a master of English grammar by the end. In the process, I had to answer over 3,200 questions!

English 3200 with Writing Applications: A Programmed Course in Grammar and
Usage by Joseph C. Blumenthal.

It's different from any grammar book you have ever seen, because it's
"programmed" instruction, which lets you teach yourself. You go through the
book by reading thousands of rectangles. In each rectangle, the author gives
you information on one new concept. Immediately, you must answer a question on
that concept. When you turn the page, you immediately check your answer.

This is better than any other type of grammar book, because you must test your
knowledge right away. You don't have to do 50 boring problems on one idea, and
you don't have to read lots of boring pages before you can do lots of boring
homework. He teaches you the bare minimum to understand an idea and IMMEDIATELY tests you on it. Then he moves on.

This book assumes you know NOTHING about English grammar. It starts from the
very beginning. However, you may start reading it anywhere and skip around.

Please try it, or recommend it to English students!

Here it is on Amazon.com.

Of course, being a master of English equals power.

productivity, leadership
