(bastardized) Russian salad

My friend Konstantin has this salad that he's made a couple of times for potluck sorts of parties (or for us helping him and Erin move in). Supposedly it's a Russian summer salad. It's fairly simple but quite yummy salad that I think just involves cucumbers, tomatoes, dill and mayonnaise. Since I liked it so much, it seemed like a good idea to make some on my own and naturally, this lead to inventing a salad that vaguely resembled this one instead of asking for the recipe (I couldn't remember the cucumber:tomato ratio and if I couldn't get that right, I might as well make up my own).

So here's what I used:

1 English cucumber
1 medium tomato
1 green bell pepper
1 small onion
~2 handfuls of dill (fresh)
~2 Tbsp mayonnaise (enough to coat everything
~2 dash lemon juice

1. Wash and trim the cucumber, then cut it in half lengthwise and cut each half again. Cut these into small (~5mm) thick pieces the other way, place in a large bowl.
2. Dice the green pepper and onion and chop the tomato. Put these in the bowl too.
3. Wash the dill, pull the finer parts off the stalk and chop it.
4. Add the mayonnaise, taste and add lemon juice.

I like my version, perhaps I should add another tomato and I could use more mayonnaise (I ran out making this) and my herb chopping skills leave something to be desired, but otherwise it's not bad.

In related news, I now have an excess of dill, I'm thinking experiments in pickling and dill hummus.
