A good evening

Left work, got home, left for Brooklyn. Got there in 2 hours (yeah, hm, about four times the time it should take me?) thanks to traffic and was late to the pa kua class (don't tell sensei!). Even though I missed the intro, it was fun and instructive. I got a few more pieces of the overall puzzle.. And I even found two more applications for chinto kata. There may even be more - I wouldn't be surprised if there were more bagua in that kata than you can shake a stick at. Still have to learn circle walking though, grumble. Someday.

Afterwards was quite a lot of fun, hanging out with meemurkombucha, his girlfriend, and ushitomo. I saw a little pa kua, a little systema .. Got to try and figure out a few more pieces of the internal puzzle. I think I'm only 20 years away now, if I keep at it every day.. :-)

It's interesting to go to a place, humble, and come out, and realize that your art has what they are teaching - although of course the material is introduced differently... I think I took away a good and important sparring lesson from today, and that's major. Now I just need to work on it.

budo, life
