afghans

Well, by now you all know about or have seen the afghan that I am making for Jessica.
You know--that awesome, amazing, humongous, warm, two-toned pink afghan that you’ve seen me working on.

I've been told by many people that they just love how it looks, and that they want me to make them one--so I've been mulling it over, trying to figure out how I can justify the cost of making them vs. giving people what they want, and running my own financial well-being up against it.

I’ve talked it over with the Hubbyman and some friends and I have come to the conclusion, that I can indeed make afghans, but unfortunately, I’m not in a financial position to simply give them away.

That’s the good news. The bad news is that there still will have to be an outlay of some money, however, it won’t be me that’s making it.

Now, for my friends, it's going to be very easy to get one--You and I will get to spend some time together--either in person, or on the phone, discussing what you want, in regards to color(s) and size, and maybe you can even get a different pattern. I do have some other ideas.

You’ll either pay me to get the yarn, for you, or you can get it yourself after we've agreed on what I am going to do, as some of the yarns may be unsuitable. (Trust me, I've got 3 different kinds of pink sitting in my yarn bin now, that just couldn't cut it for Jess's afghan!). Then I make it. Simple, huh!

I decided against charging an hourly rate for my services (since that would make the afghans so expensive, no one could afford them), but have instead decided on a very modest and reasonable rate based upon the size of the afghan (that way, I get a small fee to cover some of my effort, and you get a darn good deal on a homemade afghan!)

So if you’re interested, contact me offline at karebare@loveable.com

Also-please feel free to tell your friends, your friends’ friends, and anyone else who might be looking for a homemade afghan for themselves, or -hey, they make GREAT gifts, y’know!!!
