Hm. An interesting round. I like how Edisen writes short pieces that simultaneously leaves the reader befuddled and yet tells enough of a story that you can follow along. I suspect if she can rally and make a longer piece, it'd be mind-blowing. Desecrates treats us to a delightful character sketch worthy of a TV episode, and Korvur comes to the table with a short-lived vacation ending in fiery death. I came back with chapter 6 of Kia and Aidan. Ah, the life and times of an ogress. Shrek, she is not...
I did see a couple of comments that kinda worry me--you guys are apologizing that things are too long or too short. Let me clarify: The 300 word limit is a minimum word count. It was made that way to keep Edisen and I from cheesing our way through a blah week with a single paragraph containing all six words (and, yes, we could do it). 300 words are about 3/4 of a page (single-spaced), which was typically the limit on most grade school essays. It works for here. You can go longer. I don't know about everyone else, but I'll still read your work even if it's 20+ pages. If you want to make a grand work, though, do what I do in here--break things into chapters or bite-sized snippets.
The reason I love this activity so much is that I have so many story ideas rattling around in my head, I can't possibly do them all at once. The word lists make my thoughts percolate and brew, and I can do a little bit more on this story or that one. Percolate. Brew. Hm. Someone needs more coffee.
Rock on, people. I'll reset the word list doohickey tonight or tomorrow.
