word power

Jun 12, 2005 19:04

I'm amazed at the power of a simple note. A comment on someone's story.

[nope...not a pitch for myself, this is just a random comment]

A fanfic writer I admire (CSI fandom) has written me to say how much my comments mean to her. Huh. I had no idea that a few words could have so much impact. I mean, sure writers like to be stroked, but this... Wow.

I like her stories. Admire her willingness to push the boundaries, play with possibilities and yet remain true to her creations. And I've told her so. I just tell her what I like, what works for me and what I have problems with, or need clarification on. Didn't seem to be all that big a deal from my end...

Color me humbled.

Hidden is getting done. The last chapter is underway, now that I sort of have a handle on it. Not likely it'll be posted before next weekend, but we'll see.

In the meantime, a couple more drabbles.

This one is for the dw100

Hidden challenge
Title: Watcher
Who: TARDIS, Nine, Rose
Rating: suitable for all
Word count: 100 (pretty sure)
Note: TARDIS POV. Can be Nine/Rose close friendship or Nine/Rose 'ship - reader's choice.

Seen and yet unseen, I watch them. I am both observer and protector.

We have been together so long that we are part of one another. At times it is difficult to feel where he ends and I begin.

Unseen, he watches her, as do I.

She is the brightness and warmth of flame and the closer he gets the more I fear he will burn. But her presence pleases him. Their connection is as close as ours, and yet that bond is so very different.

He considers her as part of himself, so now she is part of me.

And another one for the thursday100

You Can’t Go Home Again challenge
Title: Greener Pastures
Show: CI
Rating: suitable for all
Characters: Mike Logan
Word count: 100 (pretty sure)
Spoilers: set after Stress Position

He nursed his coffee and listened to his partner describe his dating disaster. Mike smiled at all the right moments, but everything felt off somehow.

After working that thing with Major Case he’d come back to his now familiar, comfortable routine. Except it wasn’t so comfortable anymore. It wasn’t enough anymore.

Much as he hated to admit it, he’d liked the people at One Police Plaza. More than that, he’d like the intensity, the feeling of being challenged.

His cell phone rang, interrupting his musings. He eagerly escaped himself from the table.

“Yeah, Logan. Thanks for getting back to me, Captain.”

Well, supper is ready. Then, a LOCI repeat. Then I'll do a little more work on Hidden
