CI drabbles x 3

Most people think I don't sleep much because I'm too busy writing. Truth is, most of the time I write because I'm unable to sleep.

Rough night (damn knees), so I answered the challenge at thursday100. There are still 3 or 4 left to come. But I'll do them after work.

Straightening her desk, she glanced around. Goren hovered near the fax machine waiting for something or other, but Bishop wasn’t sure what.

She stood, straightened her shoulders and walked over to him. “Ready to call it a day?”

“Huh? Oh, no, I’m waiting…” he waved his arm vaguely toward the fax. “You go ahead. See you in the morning.”

Settled in her car, she put a cassette in the player. She took a few deep, cleansing breaths and let the words flow over her as she drove.

Jimmy Deakins had been crouched behind the boulder for what felt like hours. Clutching his gun, he hoped the years behind a desk hadn’t made him too soft.

Footsteps sounded a little to the left. He mentally braced himself for what was to come. Hesitation was not an option.

Taking a calming, silent breath, he called up the memory of everyone who pissed him off lately. He counted to three and sprang from his hiding place with a fierce yell, firing his weapon repeatedly.

He watched with satisfaction as the paintballs hit their targets before diving for cover once more.

She held the dandelion to her lips and blew steadily, sending the fluffy seeds flying. She watched them as they were blown here and there, totally at the mercy of outside forces.

Eames smiled a little sadly. She sometimes imagined herself as little more than a fluffy seed pod being carried along by the whirlwind that was Bobby Goren.

It was a hell of a ride - mostly good - but just once she’d like to be the wind.

As a kid, she believed the fluff carried wishes. Plucking another dandelion, she closed her eyes and made a wish as she blew.
