What kind of bugs do you see outside this time of year?

What kind of question is that - "bugs"! Defined as "an insect of a large order distinguished by having mouthparts that are modified for piercing and sucking. see Hemiptera" - I'm sure that's not what is meant!

We shouldn't reduce the whole of the magnificent, complicated and important Insect world to "bugs." (I guess some people's definition of "bugs" would also include things like Woodlice, which are crustaceans.)

Recently we have seen some lovely dragonflies, damselflies, and ladybirds; not so many butterflies and moths this year.

In case anyone didn't know, thanks to humans using weedkillers and destroying habitats in other ways, there is an insect apocalypse in progress, as a result of which the entire food chain could collapse.

So please don't reduce these creatures to "bugs", and don't kill them unless they are actually physically attacking you. Even then, just try to avoid them. The world needs "bugs" more than it needs humans.

Rant over.
