Recommendations?
So the other day I realized I was in the mood to read romance: full out, melodramatic, happy-ending romance. I wasn't looking for smut, I wasn't looking for originality; I just wanted a good old fashioned "two humans meet, they have a few encounters and/or adventures, they figure out they like each other, fall in love, kiss, live happily ever after (or at least until sometime after the epilogue), the end" story. Of course, I also wanted it to be tolerably well written, but... well, I do have some standards.
So I'm reading Pride and Prejudice again. *facedesks*
Anyway, does anyone have any recommendations for good romance stories (fic or published fiction or even non-fiction, if such a thing exists)? I like Austen, but I've read her stuff before and there's only so much Austen I can read before my sentence structures start getting strange. XD Also, I'm not particular about the protagonists of the story. They can be boys, girls, one of each, aliens, animals (one of my favorite romantic stories is in fact about chocobos), royalty, rednecks, registered nurses, assassins or evil overlords - I really don't care, so long as they fall in love.
Just curious.
In the meantime, I'll just be over here finding out all over again whether Lizzy will ever clue in to Darcy's designs...
