Just got back from the con. It was definitely in 'relax-a-con' territory, being basically a 'meet the guests' thing Friday night at the hotel, panels and such in two dozen rooms or so in a hall on the Virginia Tech campus on Saturday, and costume call and filking by White Plectrum in the evening. For various reasons, there will be no con on Sunday, but then that's usually just getting ready to go home anyway.
I found the con relaxing and pleasant, in no small part because I was NOT a dealer this year. I had already decided that some time ago, and with the minimal space for such in the lecture rooms available, most with built-in desks and chairs, the whole idea was dropped. This left me free to wander as I desired, appropriate as I spent the whole time dressed as the seventh incarnation of the Doctor from
Doctor Who.
"The Doctor, having assisted some independent traders (several of whom seemed rather fond of their distinctive brown coats) from oppression at the hands of the Alliance, relaxes with his new, er, Companion."
I got a number of complements on the costume, thankfully. Also thankfully, the new wingtip shoes proved quite comfortable, since I spent about 16 hours in them over the weekend. On the minus side, it would appear my camera is not that great, as several of my pics are kind of blurry, whether taken by me or by others. Luckily, I know other folks took pics of me too, so I should be able to snag some more of stuff.
Anyway, it's late, so I'll post in more detail after sleep.
EDIT: Well, after sleep I decided that, for the moment, I don't have much more to add today. I did upload
a few more pics, though. All that were not-blurry enough, anyway. I really gotta get a new camera.
