This American Bedbug

It's been, what, four years since the infestation at 106th and Columbus, and Greg and I still fly into a nocturnal panic whenever we get an itch while in bed.

This week, This American Life ran a story on a building in Brooklyn, and the terrible infestation the tenants are currently dealing with. The show goes into great detail, and it all sounds so familiar: putting clothes and books in plastic bags, waking up at 2am and being forced to start squishing hundreds of fat bedbugs, the sleep deprivation, the resulting insanity.

Listening to This American Life's episode, I realize just how lucky we were to get rid of the fuckers--the exterminators were essentially useless, so we froze them out by sleeping with windows open in winter while wrapping ourselves head to foot in winter clothing--leaving only our noses exposed.

Just thought I'd share :). Having major flashbacks, man.
