Fake Katie has a Real Melt-down

Sep 07, 2007 01:13

So it's been a while since I posted, which is odd.

First off, Greg has been in San Jose for nearly two weeks, becoming an Apple person; it took me 7 years, but I finally converted him.

Secondly, I've been writing for that blog thing that I still don't understand.

Thirdly, there's a lot of other stuff (mostly good) that I won't write about right now.

Fourthly, let's go back to second for a second.

The Newsgroper.com thing got some attention a few weeks ago when MSNBC quoted the fake Al Sharpton's blog as being a real blog by the real Al. Whatever.

This week, I was given permission by the editors of this thing to post without prior review.

I'm not used to being published without an editor reading my stuff first. I really actually depend on an editor to stop me from going completely ape-shit. Writing is one thing, but unedited rants are quite another. 2 people read this livejournal; 9 people read this newsgroper thing. Most of those 9 are either editors of the site, people searching for 'katie couric breasts,' or MSNBC journalists.

Eh. Probably more than 9 people read it.

Anyway, I was given the ability to publish--as Katie Couric--anything I wanted. I was given this power yesterday. Greg's out of town. I obsess over writing shit. So Last week I did an entry a day, knowing that an editor would read and, you know, edit.

But tonite? Given carte blanche?

I did... this rant thing. Which I like, but I also know went too shrill and preachy, and that I essentially sound like a raving lunatic.

Which I am, but... ah hell. Here's the post.

I should only be unfiltered when I have supervision. I mean, the past few weeks have been pretty epic, and... oh shit, you know what else?

Apparently any link to newsgroper ends up being published on the super-duper-secret dashboard --and I just discovered this when I logged in my account. I linked to the site up there, and suddenly this blog is on the list of people who are talking about the site. I dunno if that's creepy or... no, it's just creepy. I feel like I'm blogging for the NSA.
