an update!

yeah, I know. Its been for freakin' ever since I've updated...

Lets see..what can I ramble on about..

Lara and Deanna are back in town! yay! I haven't seen Deanna as much as I'd like to. Actually, I haven't really seen her at all. But she got a super cool castle lookin' apartment. Its awesome. And I'm really glad she's in the city, even though I don't get to see her. We will definitely have to change that. Lara and Edward are right around the corner from me. It takes about 6 minutes to get to their apartment. That rocks. And Emily came in town this past weekend, which is always a pleasure. I can't wait til she moves closer. hopefully..

AND! Jonathan got a place in the city too. He is renting a house with his brother, Hooty (jeremy) and also their friend Andrew. So it only takes me like 17 minutes to get to his place. Jonathan and I are doing awesome, of course. I don't think I need to go on about that one because I could ramble forever..

Starbucks! ahh...starbucks. Things are a little krazy right now..mainly lack of planning on my part. I had 3 partners go back to school and cut down their hours from about 28 to 12. And I didn't plan ahead enough to hire more people, so i've been working a lot lately to cover the store and get these new folks trained. I hire 3 people for myself... two girls, Erika and Lorie, and then a guy named Cameron. Plus, I'm doing some of the hiring and training for the new store opening at the new mall in october, so I've hired two girls named Kristin and Lisa and soon to be another one... plus more to come. Ahh.. busy times. I love my team though. They are just awesome! They are soo much fun .. and we are really going to have a great holiday coming up and a great year to follow. I'm super excited about them. I love interviewing and hiring folks. I find great fun in it. Its challenging because the screening and interview is all you know of them, so its a challenging really finding the behaviors that Starbucks is looking for when thats all you know of someone...which is why I really enjoy doing it. I think I'm really good at it too. And every interview is different.. because they all have a different work history, they all answer the questions differently, and you have to know what follow up questions to ask, and how to get an exact behavior out of their question. Anyways, I enjoy it. When I first became the manager of Collierville, and I had never done an interview with Starbucks before, I made 1 bad hire out of 3. But after I learned what I was doing, and became better at my job, I hire 4 people, and they are all awesome (2 of them looking to move up with starbucks) and I just hired 3 more folks that are turning out to be awesome already. Fun! So right now I have 14 partners. I may hire one more person.. I need a 5 am person.. and then i'll have 15 partners, which will be plenty come holiday.

Nicholas is back in school at Memphis...Heidi is almost done. I think she graduates in December? April went to Utah for a few days to visit her boyfriend (yes, my mom let her FLY to Utah ALONE and stay with the boy.. I know.. my mom.. geeez...) So now April and I both have been on a plane! yay! My mom is staying busy with the animal rescue thing. In October, Starbucks and the animal rescue group will be hosting an animal costume contest at my starbucks. Its going to be on October 30th and Starbucks will be judging the pet costume contest and we are giving away some awesome Starbucks baskets as the prizes. Its going to be a big event to raise money for my moms group. Dad..he's still working...doing the trees and stuff.... yup.

I got a new district manager too. It used to be a lady named Lori, but now its a lady named Tonya. She's soooo great. The first few days of her being my new DM, I had a pet adoption day in the parking lot of my starbucks. And it was one of the hottest days of the year, and we were outside. She helped at the adoption day, in the heat, for about 4 hours that day! It was amamzing. And she HATES the heat because she's from up North, so she's not use to it. But she sat out there the entire time with us and help. That was really awesome of her. She's definitely helping me grow.

Bagel has been coming out to the store a lot lately. And its not just because he likes one of my partners..heh.. but he's writing a book so he's been doing it in my cafe. yay! Its fun looking into the cafe and seeing Bagel. We watched a really cool movie the other night. It was called "Old Boy" I believe. It's a Korean film. It was really good! oh yeah! Bagel started updating his livejournal too. Be sure to check it out. Mrbagelrocks.

Oh yeah, I paid off my car! woo! It only took 5 years, but I'm finish!

Okay, I guess thats about it. :)
