There is only one single native Israeli food. And that is felafel made out of chick peas. In Arba states, felafel is made from ful. And all other foods were things Jews brought in from the Diaspora.

They are fava beans. As in "I ate his liver with some fava beans and a nice Chianti." They are a cheap form of bean, grown primarily in Egypt, but in most Arab countries as well.
