Posts From History #1 : An Analysis

Feb 28, 2007 14:06

on this day, two years ago.

a mildly interesting post, although with none of the panache i usually inject into these kind of report-backs. it was probably symptomatic of my incredibly boring life that the highlights included being in a car wreck and being able to afford sci-fi books. i'd like to say that things are more exciting now, and they possibly are, although i still haven't bought the books i wanted and my back has never completely healed.

also, i'd like to point out how i misquoted jay-z's lyrics in the subject. i'm not sure whether it was intentional; i mean, i know the correct lyrics, but did i know then? was i trying to be funny? ironic? post-modern? who the fuck knows? i've always struggled with subject lines for posts, and most times would just write down some random quote i had heard that day, or resort to 3l33t speak to maintain some semblance of interest.

(for some reason, i was going to write "semblance of faggotry". i'm not sure where in my subconscious this comes from, but that would make an awesome name for a band, as well as allowing us to co-opt gay culture in our own particularly desperate way).

as for responses, i think this post was quite below the average. a brief appearance from mandy was pleasing, as were some encouraging words from rob and jonty - but in terms of sheer numbers i'm afraid it doesn't quite measure up. i'm not even talking about pre-2002 journal trashing levels; even doldrum 2004 levels would have been acceptable.

in any case, i'm awarding this post a 4 out of 10. lengthy but uninformative, and ultimately uninteresting.

in comparison, we have:

on this day, a year ago:

"HELLO!!! I AM FINE HOW ARE YOU OK!!!!!!"

interesting. i think i may have been on shrooms. thanks to deacon and jonty for placating me, but once again i'm afraid that i still need to learn that crazy does not necessarily equal funny.

6/10, but only for the weirdness value.
