Today we managed Wahclella Falls, off exit 40 in the gorge.
I picked this one since it was going to be blazing hot and what I read said most of the path was "under cover" and there were areas you would be getting wet. While the Munro Falls was a kick, about half the trail was open to the hot sun. I wish I'd brought my hat!
The walk started easy enough on an nice level path following Tanner Creek.
While billed as "super easy" the climb up was pretty steep at times (google says the trip is 350 feet elevation change) and the rocks make it easy to trip on at times if you're not paying attention (or your leashed dog is pulling your arm out of socket). We also passed several dry waterfalls with impressive dropoffs - a spill here would prove quite dangerous.
When the trail Y'd off, we took the high road (left) and eventually, stumbled upon a wedding...
The waterfall was lovely and very cool, albeit quite regional!
We proceeded to finish the loop by continuing onto the path that would bring us back to the fork. This path was much more exposed but had several fun bridges to cross.
Our return trip
I let Tashi play in the creek a little bit on our way back. He's hard to see in this photo, but he's centered.
If we elect to try this trip again, I would choose a cooler day. I've also heard that the trees in the fall make this a fun excursion then as well. Probably too much work for a pug though; we were glad he stayed home for this one. Tashi wanted more playtime in the water so I should probably budget time for this as well.
