Captain's Log, Day 876--

...

Eight hundred and seventy... ?

::facepalms::

::clears throat::

We've been out here... a long time. We've had many new contacts, helpful, antagonistic, neutral... some friends, some enemies.

None as overall relentless as the Borg. Somehow, everything old is new again.

Children, safe but scarred. Crew and ship, damaged but reparable. Those here, that is. Some are accounted for, sadly. Others... here we go again.

We are yet again missing several key personnel. Not dead, but gone. In the chaos of boarding drones, something -- dare I say, a PIF -- took away Major Hayes, Crewman Kelly, Stephen Tanner, and Hoshi. We've barely had time to analyze anything, but I'm positive the evidence will bear it out.

While we were fortunate enough -- hell, just call it blind luck -- to escape the Borg, the subsequent explosion that destroyed their ship also took the life of annikahansen, a loss felt deeply by our Voyager visitors. I refused to use our people as bargaining chips... but I can't protect someone who goes voluntarily. Still, it rings of a failure on my part, true or no.

We continue on. As if we had a choice in the matter... who knows what the future holds?
